Tempting since it’s such an iconic album and one of the finest by The Beatles (although their albums are all damn good). Not sure if I’ll pick this up or not. If so I’d probably wait for a price drop or something. I already own the album a few times over (the original CD release, the 2011 remastered CD, and a copy on vinyl).

I ordered the second it went up. I love the Sgt. Pepper and White Album box set and I don't expect that to change with Abbey Road.

Very tempting! I'm not a Beatles expert, have any of the takes and demos on discs two and three been officially released before?

EDIT: Never mind, the announcement says most of those are unreleased. Cool!

EDIT Part Deux: So the deluxe version with the book doesn't include the album on vinyl as well?

Seems kind of light compared to some box sets we are getting these days like from Bob Dylan. I get the impression they left many session takes off the set.

With Bob Dylan it just one person that has to OK everything even as cranky as the old bastard is. With the Beatles you have two living members and two widows who have never agreed on anything in their lives who have to OK what goes on the sets.Rumor is that Paul wanted Carnival Of Light to be on the Pepper box but George was dead set against it ever coming out so Olivia blocked it. I am surprised these Beatles sets have been released at all.

Same here. I don't care much about the CD's but the hi-res Blu Ray's & 5.1 mixes are extraordinary. Shame they are not available on their own.

Re: Beatles: Abbey Road - Super Deluxe Set 9/27

Do these go on sale? Most deluxe sets do, but of course everything is different for The Beatles (and Led Zeppelin)

Listening to those three tracks, the first sounds like the last remaster to me. Maybe a bit crisper?
The second is interesting, especially the new lyrics. But I don't think I'd listen to it much. The third, instrumental track is nice, obviously. One of the best Beatles songs ever recorded and the instrumentation is a big reason why.

Maybe not sale, but usually you can find an outlet that somehow marks them down a bit. I picked up the White Album set last year when Barnes & Noble ran a huge discount on CDs.

Re: Beatles: Abbey Road - Super Deluxe Set 9/27

I waited a year to get the Beatles in Mono CD box set and paid about half of what it went for when it first came out, so it does happen. Might be a case by case basis though.

Re: Beatles: Abbey Road - Super Deluxe Set 9/27

With the Super Deluxe 3 CD / 1 Blu-ray "Abbey Road" boxset at just under $90 now, I went ahead and pre-ordered it. It may get cheaper than that eventually, but not by much, so I figured go ahead and get it.

This is the first of these Beatles remastered albums I've bought but probably not the last (especially if next year's "Let It Be" release is as mega-loaded as expected.)

The Sgt Pepper and White Album 50th sets are both really great. If you like the Abbey Road you should pick them up too.

My copy of the Super Deluxe just came in. I think of the three 50th sets the Abbey Road 5.1 mix is my favorite.

Of those 2, I mostly want the White Album Super Deluxe but am waiting for it to have a price drop.

I think the Something & Come and Get It Demos are the same ones that were released on Anthology 3. Have any of the other Demos or Outtakes been released on the Anthology Sets?

Re: Beatles: Abbey Road - Super Deluxe Set 9/27

I've decided the 2-CD set is good enough for me this time around. I'm not blown away by the outtakes and demos like some other releases. The album remix is okay, kind of pointless in my mind, but I realize they needed a hook to sell everyone Abbey Road over again.

There are reports of some of the Blu-rays being defective.

Re: Beatles: Abbey Road - Super Deluxe Set 9/27

I bought the super deluxe cd with book and blu ray and the 4 lp vinyl. I've gotten into vinyl the past couple of years and for me this was a no brainer.

I listened to the 4 lp vinyl and they sounded great, will be listening to this set for a long time.

The blu ray was terrific, so cool to hear it in 3 formats, direct stereo, DHT DT and Dolby Atmos... really cool.
