Teased on FOX social pages, THE FLARE is a television drama that now has a very real after-show, called "WHAT JUST HAPPENED??! WITH FRED SAVAGE," dedicated to exploring the fandom surrounding the show. The half-hour hybrid comedy/talk show premieres Sunday, June 30 (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. THE FLARE is based on fictional author TJ Whitford's sci-fi book series, "The Moon is the Sun at Night," which has been a favorite of Savage's since childhood. The book revolves around a solar event and its effects on Earth - specifically, the small, blue-collar town of Milford, IL - and slowly unfolds into a post-apocalyptic battle for human survival. The after-show will feature multiple segments, including authentic sit-down celebrity interviews, set visits to THE FLARE and interviews with the "cast," as well as discussions with fans and more.

Are they trying to fill a half-hour with cheap programming, or are they worried that Fox viewers are too stupid to understand what goes on in the show?

I understand it's a spoof and I rather like the concept, but I found it an enormous waste of time....

Yup. When I first heard about this, I thought it was a funny idea because I hate those "Talking" shows. This was pretty bad because it didn't even really make fun of it, it was just like another terrible episode of one of those types of shows. I think Savage is funny and it was nice to have The Grinder reunion but I will not be tuning in again for this.

I'm not sure what the point of the co-host was. She brought nothing to the show and had zero knowledge of the source material. She seemed to be there only because she wants to be on TV. I gonna say that she'll be gone next week and Fred will host it solo which he practically did anyway.

I hope they can get Yvette Nicole Brown on here. Talking Dead is on hiatus so she should be free on Sunday nights.

The Grinder worked because Savage was just another actor in a solid comedic ensemble. This show in contrast is all about Savage to its detriment. He just isn't charismatic or talented enough as an adult to pull off being a series lead.
I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be a spoof of Chris Hardwick's Talking Dead, but doesn't offer enough bite.

What exactly is this show? We were watching whatever aired before it and caught the first few minutes of Fred horribly freaking out to that fake "Flare" trailer. Couldn't last more than 2-3 minutes.
