The Lionsgate and Liberty Global-produced STARZ Original Series "The Rook" will premiere Sunday, June 30th, 2019 at 8PM ET/PT on STARZ in the U.S. and Canada, and then on the STARZPLAY platform in Germany and Spain. "The Rook" is a supernatural spy thriller, which tells the story of Myfanwy Thomas, a woman who wakes up in the rain beside London's Millennium Bridge with no memory of who she is and no way to explain the circle of latex-gloved dead bodies splayed around her. When Myfanwy discovers she is a high-ranking official in the Checquy, Britain's last truly secret service for people with paranormal abilities, she will have to navigate the dangerous and complex world of the agency to uncover who wiped her memory - and why she is a target.

I had no idea this was even in development. I read the books a couple of years ago and liked them well enough. Hoping they do a decent TV adaptation.

Well that was disappointing. I'll give it a few more episodes but so far the show has none of the dark humor of the book and the Myfanwy character is being played way different than in the book.

I did not read the book series but like Mugwump I was a bit underwhelmed by the first episode. It feels like the potential is there for an entertaining series and the woman who plays the lead is solid in this but something feels off and I can only hope things start to tighten up in the next episode.

Unfortunately this is an adaptation in title only. The plot is different and all the humour is gone. Too bad.
