GLOW (Netflix) -- Season 3 Thread -- premieres 8/9/19

<script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Season 3 follows the ladies of GLOW as they take the Vegas strip by storm. Now headliners at the Fan-Tan Hotel and Casino, the women quickly realize Sin City is much more grind than glitter. Ever the team cheerleader, Ruth’s passion for the show begins to take a backseat to her growingly complicated personal life. Debbie is making headway as a producer, but continues to be consumed with guilt over the distance between her and her son. As their residency wears on, the lines blur between performance and reality, and the cast find themselves struggling with their own identities both in and outside of the ring.

Re: GLOW (Netflix) -- S: Brie, Maron, Gilpin -- Season 2 Thread -- premieres 6/29/18

'GLOW' Recruits Geena Davis for Season 3

Geena Davis is hopping in the GLOW ring when it moves to Las Vegas.

The Oscar and Golden Globe-winning actress will guest star in five of the 10 episodes of the third season of Netflix's female wrestling comedy, which releases Aug. 9.

Davis will play Sandy Devereaux St. Clair, the former showgirl turned entertainment director of the Fan-Tan Hotel and Casino, which is the show's third season backdrop. The GLOW wrestlers are the new headliners of the Fan-Tan Hotel, a gig that follows up on a season two finale offer to turn GLOW into a variety-wrestling show.

GLOW (aka The Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling) is indeed taking over Sin City when the Emmy-winning critical darling returns. The comedy, which was inspired by the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling syndicated series of the 1980s, had been set in 1985 Hollywood for seasons one and two. But the second season finale put the 15 wrestlers — led by Alison Brie and Betty Gilpin — on a bus headed out of Hollywood after their wrestling show-within-a-show was canceled.

Netflix recently revealed what GLOW will look like when it re-sets for round three in Vegas and, on Monday, the streamer also released a first look at Davis' character. A video shared by GLOW on Twitter calls her the "new girl in town."

GLOW (Netflix) Season 3 Thread - 8/9/19

Can't wait... they've followed the history of the real GLOW, so not sure where it can go after this season.

Well it seems that most Netflix shows don't get past season three, so I have a guess as to where it goes...

Damn it, too much stuff. Here I was thinking of the Disney+ bundle but I might just stick with Disney+.

Apparently you have 4 weeks to finish the new season or it doesn't "count". I hate to think of how many series I've doomed based on this metric.

Like The Santa Clarita Diet was, this is a pretty fast binge. Pretty good season and it'll be interesting how things if S4 happens.

First episode was great and really hit home with me. I had just started working at the military TV Station at Roosevelt Roads, PR, and we were on the air when Challenger exploded. GLOW very accurately portrayed the gamut of emotions and reactions of all of my friends and coworkers to the tragedy.

This show is so good.

Yup. Good season and took some interesting directions.

This definitely feels like 5 season length show, so hopefully it gets there regardless of the Netflix model. Continued Emmy nominations will help as well.

I'm four episodes in and really liking this season. There's not much focus on the actual wrestling show so far, but that's okay. There are some great character-focused storylines running.

I was wondering about the inclusion of the Challenger disaster as the setup in the first episode. I wonder if there was any real-life analog to Ruth/Zoya's foot-in-mouth TV appearance? Like, someone criticizing or joking on-air about the astronauts just before the accident?

I'm halfway through the third season and the episode where they all switch characters had me in stitches!

^Yeah, that was a fun episode. It was kind of the bright spot of the season. It felt like this season was a little darker in tone that the previous ones. I still liked it a lot, but it was more drama and less comedy this time around.

Re: GLOW (Netflix) -- Season 3 Thread -- premieres 8/9/19

Felt let down by this season. What I really responded to about the first two seasons was it's "going-into-business" premise. Season one being about them coming together to develop the live show, Season two about them coming together to develop the TV show.

This season started with them already bored of the Vegas show, and most of the Glow stuff was pushed into the background. I enjoyed the first two seasons of Glow because they were based around a specific premise. The show was unique. Most of the storylines were generic stuff you see in dozens of other shows. And while I'm sure the drag club owner would be an interesting character in his own show, I didn't like so much focus on him at the expense of who the show should be about.

The only episode that stands out for me is the one featuring Tamme's injury. She was the best character this season, and that opening montage of her got painful to watch the longer it went on. That was an excellent episode.

A 4th season sounds like it might get the show back on track. Would definitely watch despite my dissatisfaction with this one.

Season started strong, petered out the last few episodes.

Funny because I was about to give up until that episode. I mostly find this season... dull (except for what I call "the boobs episode" )

I finally watched this Season yesterday and I definitely agree with it. The last few Episodes weren't necessarily padding for content but the ideas didn't feel as inspired.

Still looking forward to the Final Season!

Re: GLOW (Netflix) -- Season 3 Thread -- premieres 8/9/19

I finally finished this season last night. I watched four episodes when season three debuted and became busy and put it on the back burner. I really liked this season. It wasn't as good as the first two seasons, but I still really enjoyed it. It's a travesty that Marc Maron doesn't get any award nominations. He's fantastic. I know a lot of you didn't like that last few episodes, but I loved the Christmas episode. I was also pleased to see Toby Huss appear in this season. I'm excited to see how season four turns out. Whenever they finish it. I read that they finished two episodes before they shut down during the Pandemic. They said they'll probably be one of the last shows to start production due to how physical the wrestling is.

Cancelled. There will be no 4th and final season: https://deadline.com/2020/10/glow-ca...on-1234591535/

According to the story, they were in production before the shutdown. Guess those episodes will never see the light of day now.
