Purple 25th Anniversary Edition

STP have announced a reissue of their album Purple, in commemoration of the album’s 25th anniversary. The reissue will be out September 13th.

The Super Deluxe Edition will include three CDs and one vinyl LP, featuring a remastered version of the studio album along with demos, rarities, early song versions and several previously unreleased live recordings. Limited edition preorders of Purple will include a replica 7-inch vinyl single of “Interstate Love Song.” The edition will also be released digitally the same day, along with a less extensive two-CD Deluxe Edition. As a teaser, the band has released an acoustic version of their song “Big Empty,” available now on streaming services.Other highlights are live recordings from the band’s performance at the 1994 KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas – including a version of “Christmastime Is Here” from A Charlie Brown Christmas – and the previously unreleased demo “She Knows Me Too Well,” a cover of the Beach Boys’ 1965 track.

Stone Temple Pilots will go on tour with Rival Sons this fall, with Jeff Gutt as their current lead vocalist. The tour will begin September 13th in Baltimore and wrapping up October 9th in San Diego, with stops in Philadelphia, New York City, New Orleans and more along the way. PURPLE: SUPER DELUXE EDITION

Woulda loved a 5.1 Blu-ray.

I guess there aren't a lot of "Purple fans" around here being that this was released last week and there's no discussion. The release date got moved from 9/13 to 10/18. This is another solid release along with the Core Anniversary Edition. Not a lot of bloated junk like a lot of other reissues. Would've loved a 5.1 mix like gerrythedon said, but the only reason Core included a 5.1 mix was because a DVD-Audio was released back in 2000 which is the same disc and is basically enhanced stereo & is one of the worse surround mixes I've heard. Hope the keep them coming though, next should by Tiny Music.

Only interested in the live disc. If they ever release that separately, I'll pick it up.

I hadn't paid attention, this is my wife's second favorite band so it looks like I will be buying another special reissue (bought Appetite earlier this year).

I'll talk about it and thanks for the reminder. I don't visit the Music forum that often. Checking it out now on Spotify and am always eager to hear anything new (or rehashed) by the original lineup. The live material from 1994 sounds awesome! Great album and surpassed their debut "Core". Thanks for creating this thread.

Damn this album still rocks, sound amazing. The live CD is great. Like I mentioned before, it shoulda had a Blu-ray w/ 5.1 DTS MA mix and remastered videos. And a dvd with a live show.

I love me some STP, early, late, and everywhere in-between. Not sure I can pay that much for this, but it is tempting. I like the way you think, gerrythedon. I may have to see if I can sneak this in as a B2G1 purchase for Christmas along with the Prince 1999 set for my wife.

Only way I'm re-buying TINY MUSIC is if it comes with like 7 CD's and more..

Great price. Core took a big dip too (that's when I got it). I'm usually more interested in these Super Deluxe editions around the $30-$40 price point.
