Help identifying a Single/Album cover

So a friend is stuck identifying an album cover from a small image of some very 80s pop artwork. I do recognize it, but cannot place it.

Any ideas?

That does indeed look familiar to me, but maybe that's just my imagination. I don't know if I've seen it before or not. The style does indeed look like it's from the 1980s.

I know for a fact I have seen this album or design, and I was almost certain I owned it. It's extremely familiar to me, but I looked through all of my "Rated" album covers at RateYourMusic and came up empty.

Re: Help identifying a Single/Album cover

It could well be from a movie poster or DVD cover rather than a music album.

Does your friend go by Digby? lol

Looks familiar... but the first couple of bands (Duran Duran and The Cars) while similar aren't it.

That's cool. That image has gone viral because so many people think it looks familiar but can't identify it.

It sure looks familiar but I can't identify it. My first thought was that it was an album cover. Or maybe some design we sold when I worked at Spenser Gifts at the mall.

ETA: A Google Image Search for Memphis Shapes brings up a lot of similar patterns.

I was thinking Information Society or the background of Fresh Prince.

Man, this is frustrating! I know we'll all be kicking ourselves when someone finds the answer, though it's obviously a somewhat obscure image at a minimum, or someone would have gotten it already.
I thought it might be Ultravox Greatest Hits, or Howard Jones - something poppy from the mid-'80s - and then it struck me that it might be a cover or intro design from one of the old '80s Degrassi series, but no dice. Maybe I'll take a look through my DVD collection.

Re: Help identifying a Single/Album cover

I propose that the design is just from the skateboard, and that we only think we've seen it in the 1980s due to the Mandela effect.

Re: Help identifying a Single/Album cover

The answer with respect to the original picture is the skateboard since someone found the original picture it came from.

Looks like an early 90's Taco Bell dining room theme.

Re: Help identifying a Single/Album cover

Okay, for whatever reason I'm thinking it's a Kinks album. Gonna go look now!

edited to add: Okay - I was totally wrong! But I know I've it, and not on a skateboard!!

That was from the background for the Movie poster of Sinbad's Genie movie.
