Fifteen months after bringing his mother’s killer to justice, Bosch finds himself seeking the truth on two fronts. New evidence in an old case leaves everyone wondering whether Bosch planted evidence to convict the wrong guy. And a murder at a Hollywood pharmacy exposes a sophisticated opioid pill mill, sending Bosch down a dark and perilous path in pursuit of the killers.

Bosch returns 04/19.
Already renewed for Season 6.

Just finished season 4 this week. I'm looking forward to this and next season. I know most here moan and groan about cop shows, but this is such an underrated cop show. More people need to watch this.

Re: Bosch (Amazon) -- Season 5 Thread -- premieres 4/19/19

I watched the first 4 seasons a couple of months ago. Looking forward to this.

Q: I have a new 4k tv and Prime Video shows Bosch (and other shows like The Tick for example) in 4k.But when I play an episode, the bottom of the screen shows 1080p. The Prime Video settings in Windows, and in the Firestick 4k android app have NO video settings. So where the heck do I set/change that?Or is this like Netflix where you need a higher tier membership to get 4k ("my account" had nothing of the sort)???

You have to search for the 4K version of the Prime show. It will have an icon at the top that says 4K UHD

I know. It still plays in 1080p.

My question is: Where are the video settings to enable 4k for Prime Video? Not in Prime Video on Windows, not in Prime Video on android/Firestick 4k.

Device should automatically detect which resolution to play. May be issue between device and your TV.

Using Chrome and Mac (5k capable), Amazon Prime shows only "HD" on bottom left corner (which is 1080p. "Ultra HD" = 4k). There doesn't seem to be a way to change this (there's a settings cog icon near the top right, but that only changes bandwidth quality)

The device will automatically do this. Are you sure you have enhanced content enabled on your TV?

What I do is I had the 4K version to my watchlist on via the Amazon website as it is easier to find sometimes. Then it is just right there in the UHD version when I go to watch on my TV.

Re: Bosch (Amazon) -- Season 5 Thread -- premieres 4/19/19

I had to download the app on my smartphone and change:

Settings > Stream and Download > Streaming Quality to "Best" which is apparently not the default.

It's kinda silly that the only place to do this is on a smartphone.

Anyway, it's working now. I get a message "Preparing for UHD and HDR" before the ep. starts on my Firestick 4k.

Re: Bosch (Amazon) -- Season 5 Thread -- premieres 4/19/19

It's kind of funny given that I've read nearly all the books, but for the second straight year this is at least partially based on a book that I haven't read. To be fair, Angels Flight was a strange anomaly (it had sat in my unread book drawer for more than ten years), but this is a newer book (Two Kinds of Truth) that I haven't read only because last year I decided to start over from the beginning. Still...grrr.

Just finished the season and it was another winner.

Since
Spoiler:
this had some closure for Bosch, they did set up the "ritual" killer for further exploits along with Bosch's partner's involvement with the Haitian and corrupt cop underground.
I'm sure that will be explored in season 6 next year.

I watched 6 yesterday and knocked out 4 today. I planned accordingly.

I guess you do!

I started Ep. 1 last night, but was too exhausted to make it all the way thru.
I did notice one of his recent books (not enough caffeine in me to trigger a recollection of the title) is being used for this season.
Kinda wished the they had used an earlier novel though, as that particular story is still fresh in my mind.

No way I'll be able to catch up to you for a couple of weeks...in spite of the fact I've made S5 a priority in my HT.
A new season of Bosch always receives a joint experience with The Boss, and her beauty sleep starts early in the evening.

BTW, Connelly's new novel drops Oct. 22 and is another Bosch and Ballard installment.
It will be called "The Night Fire."

Re: Bosch (Amazon) -- Season 5 Thread -- premieres 4/19/19

I rarely watch new seasons the moment they drop, and finish them shortly after, but that'll be the case with this one. I'm through 4 episodes, and I expect to finish the season by tomorrow night, Monday at the latest. Good stuff (so far) as always. Love Bosch.

So next season is the Daisy cold case investigation?

I also noticed that Bosch didn’t have a UHD banner like UHD Amazon shows usually do but I still got UHD when I watched.

I noticed the HDR banner, but didn't check the resolution.
