Very excited about this since the last tour was so limited and he came no where near me.

I looked and fan club tickets go on presale tomorrow but I can't seem to find how to join the fan club on his site. Probably gonna do the Nashville visit instead of the Atlanta one.

No one can. And it's frustrating everyone. Last time the passcode was either "Alone" or "Universe". Can't remember which. But it was one of those.

Didn't ELO have a tour(Zoom Tour Live) back in 2001(shown on PBS) but got cancelled after one show?

They sort of mentioned that it wasn't part of the tour but it sounded like it too me but the tour was cancelled due to poor ticket sales(and possibly only two members of the original group would be performing).

Completely forgot about this. Just looked on Wiki and found:

After the release of the 2001 album Zoom, Jeff Lynne announced a North American tour, their first live set of concerts in 15 years. A promotional PBS show was recorded over two consecutive nights at CBS Television City in Los Angeles. ELO's management abruptly cancelled the tour (due to slow ticket sales) and this footage was released on VHS and DVD by Image Entertainment.

If anyone finds it out today, please post here or PM me, pretty please.

And yes, I was all set to buy tickets for that Zoom tour and was very disappointed when it got cancelled. I was too young to see him the last time he toured America.

Zoom is a fantastic album from start to finish, by the way. I highly recommend it.

Anyone on the fence should absolutely go. In 2016 I flew to LA to see them and I just saw them in Chicago two months ago.
I plan on going to one of these shows.

Seconded. I caught them in Detroit. Once in a lifetime opportunity. Never mind that they're playing 20 or so stops on this tour, you never get a second chance to see ELO for the first time.

Uh. Heh, you know what I mean.

I posted a video from that Detroit show around here somewhere. Lemme see if I can scounge that up.

Re: Jeff Lynne's ELO 2019 North American Summer tour announced

Found it. This was the encore - Roll Over Beethoven.

Everyone in the audience was in their 50's, or they were the kids/grandkids of someone in their 50's that they came with. And everybody... I mean EVERYBODY... knew all the words to all the songs all night long. It was less a concert and more like a full immersion.

Edited to Add: By the way, my phones' camera made it look like I was much farther from the stage than the mere 20 rows back that I actually was. As a result there's an easter egg detail of the background video that you might not have noticed. Starting at 4:15 as the ELO logo begins to appear on screen, it then pulls back to reveal that its on the ELOship that adorns the cover of Out Of The Blue. Okay, fine, nothing unexpected there. Still cool, but totally in-line with this being an ELO concert. But then the image continues to pull back and you begin to notice that the ELOship is resting in the center of an even larger spaceship. What originally appears to be just "artistic license" is actually a nod to the unheralded 2001 album "Zoom" that Jeff collaborated with George Harrison on. The ship the ELOship is apparently docked with is none other than the ZOOMship.

Found a site that posted the fan club password. Got my two tickets for the Nashville show.

Was very happy on the floor in the 17th row...then 9th and 10th rows popped up available right after my purchase. Goddammit!

Well...just happy to get to see him before I die...if I make it to July!

Saw them last week at the O2 arena (in part based on the recommendations here). It really was a spectacular show, and sounded amazing. Tickets were fairly inexpensive on the secondary market, as they ended up doing four shows there. Bought one online (Viagogo) the day before the show - not super cheap (~$100), but still about half price. And I was in the 5th row, absolute dead center, right in front of Jeff. Fantastic!!

Add me in on tipping anyone on the fence. This is the band that truly made me love music. Started listening to them when I was around 13. I never had the chance to see them live before until this past Summer. They didn't play D.C. so I went up to Philadelphia to see them there. I looked at my friend once during the show (who had never seen them before either) and said "You know, this is a once in a life time event. We'll never have the opportunity to see them ever again". And this happened! Jeff clearly has the touring bug. He is loving the turn out and it shows. Thanking the audience for coming several times during the concert, with such a huge smile on his face. I've seen over 500 concerts in my life, and they rank in the top 5 for sure. The lights, the sound, the nostalgia, the energy in the arena (with everyone singing).....it was magical.

Yeah, I just found it too. Now to decide if I'm gonna pick a show or wait for my friend Bev in Tampa to "accidentally" buy an extra and invite me down.

Edited to add: Oh, who am I kidding? Of course I'm gonna go see them. Nashville, July 3rd, with a day off the next day? Locked-in. Main Floor, Section 3, Row 18, here I come!

My gf's parents went to the kickoff in Anaheim the other night and said it was the best show either of them had ever seen in their lives. They're in their 60s.

I wish I'd gone but I'm too casual of a fan to justify that pricing.

Re: Jeff Lynne's ELO 2019 North American Summer tour announced

My girlfriend and I saw Jeff Lynne (it reeally isn't ELO...just Jeff Lynne with a bunch of backing musicians) in Nashville on Weds this week and it was a great show.

Lynne sounded and played great (especially when you realize he is 71 and hasn't done a ton of touring over the last 30 years). The light show was good and the musicians he recruited were top notch. Every song sounded just like the original record and the light show/background visuals were cool. He doesn't have much stage presence as he mainly just plays and sings. He only really moved when the roadie would give him a different guitar after every song.

But being a huge fan of his since I was a kid, it was nice to be able to see him before he retires or doesn't tour anymore. I think I read they it was the first time he played Nashville in 35 years or something like that.

It was nice to see Lynne get so much love from the crowd since critics have been shitting on him since day one (well...except his Move stuff). We missed Dhani Harrison but the people sitting next to us said he was really good too and did all originals. He came out and sang his Dad's part when they did the Traveling Wilbury's song "Handle With Care" which was really cool. Sounded and looked a lot like his father.

If you are a fan of Lynne, I highly recommend seeing the show if possible.

Yeah, ticket prices were nearly double since that last tour in 2018. It was so successful, I guess everyone got greedy.
