I just noticed that the new Mary and the Witch's Flower anime movie is on Netflix right now.

Isnt that one of the new movies from Studio Ghibli/Myazaki recently where the movie has been in stores for DVD and Blu ray?

Not Miyazaki, and technically not Ghibli, though with a lot of their talent.

A very enjoyable anime movie in the spirit of Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli efforts. If you enjoy the fantasy movies from Studio Ghibli, you'll like it a lot.

Enjoyed the film. Made by a lot of ex-Ghibli members, but not actually a Ghibli film. Definitely has the feel one would expect from one though.

Yes. It doesn't rank with most Miyazaki movies, but it's a fine first effort. I look forward to seeing what else they come up with.

I enjoyed it, but agree with the general sentiment here. My kid really liked it, so it may be one that I end up buying down the road. She's been really into the Ghibli flicks I've shown her so far, so anything else I can add to that is a bonus.

I also agree with everybody here. The movie was fine, I enjoyed it but it was not better than the classics such as Spirited away, Howl's moving castle or Princess Mononoke. However it was visually attractive and the story was well developed. You should definitely give it a try, especially if you are a fan of studio Ghibli

Mary and the Witch's Flower film is very similar to Studio Ghibli style, if you like any of their films you will really like it. I buy most Gkids films when they come out, most are really good. I can't wait for the movie "Fireworks" to come out in a few weeks. Another film to check out that is not Studio Ghibli is "A Letter to Momo"
I also highly recommend three Funimation films "Your Name", "Wolf Children", and "Summer Wars" I could list more but I think those are the best that is not a not Studio Ghibli film.

I have not seen the Fireworks film yet. if you would like to see more, other films I bought that is good are "Children Who Chase Lost Voices", "In this corner of the world", "Patema Inverted", "Napping Princess", and "The girl who leapt through time" there are also a few Sentai Filmworks films I have not seen yet.

I would say it's a solid anime film (especially it's the first for Studio Ponoc). There is clear influences from past Studio Ghibli films. I say it's worth checking out especially if you're a Ghibli fan.

The movie happens to be available on a Japanese UHD which recently got under $40 shipped here to the States. Keep an eye on Japanese Amazon and the like for a deal.
