I don't know if there is much out there. I have seen the title Bible Black on anime lists but I haven't checked it out yet.

And if this isn't a joke post, if you're looking for religious themed anime, don't watch Bible Black unless you know exactly what it's about beforehand.

If you're talking mainly like teaching about religion, the only one I can think of off the top of my head is Superbook (the old one).

If you're talking just references to Bible-based religion, there are a bunch that reference things, mainly catholicism, but usually as a way to combat things like vampires and demons. Hellsing, Hellsing Ultimate, Chrno Crusade, Blue Exorcist, Certain Magical Index, Vatican Miracle Examiner, etc. Stuff like Haibane Renmei take the concept of angels from the Bible. Lots based on Shintoisem: Noragami, Inakon, Kamichu, as well as a lot of anime that deals with Yokai.

Thanks, I did mean both themed and direct religious type. I picked up a used copy some time back called Angels Santuary but I haven't watched it yet. I will check out the Super Book.

I know that there is some manga out there but I am not interested in that.

I've seen a few. A lot of the vampire anime center around Christianity.

Trinity Blood qualifies bigtime.

Most depictions of Christianity in anime are uninformed at best and often disrespectful much of the time. It shows up in off-hand ways, usually based off Catholic practices.

I thought Haibane Renmei was one of the better ones.

Most anime just take a bunch of gothic religious words/imagery and throw them in a blender. Out pops the next season of Index. They have no idea what they're talking about. It sounds cool and that's good enough.

I never saw any religiously themed anime but yes, cultural ones are available.

My Favorite animes for this theme is Chrno Crusade and A Certain Magical Index.
