The remixes are new. A lot of these outtakes, demos, Esher tracks have been floating around the bootlegosphere for decades, glad to see an "official" release. This is a must have, already got the Deluxe edition on preorder.

I'm curious about the 5.1 mixes. It's nice they are including high rez versions, would be better if it was offered separately.

This is going to cost so much. I was able to track down the Pepper's set for a reasonable price, but this release looks a lot more exciting (I don't have any of the bootlegs, other than the material on the Anthology release). Not sure on this one, but I want it so bad...

Re: The Beatles Announce ‘White Album’ Deluxe 50th Anniversary Edition 11/9

I'll admit I haven't exhaustively heard all the Beatles' bootlegs, but their session material hasn't struck me as very interesting compared to other acts. The polished studio releases were always the best versions of each song.

I'll probably pass since I am not as in love with the White Album as other Beatle fans.

To each their own, but this sounds pretty great to me:

...compare and contrast with the 2009 remaster:

Re: The Beatles Announce ‘White Album’ Deluxe 50th Anniversary Edition 11/9

Think I'll get the 6-CD set when the price drops (it's not limited, right?), and no vinyls of this edition for me, as I already have a vinyl of the mono and a really good pressing of the stereo vinyl as well.

This will be the 8th or 9th time I buy this album... I'm such a sucker.

I'm surprised they're not putting out limited white vinyl editions of this - seems like it would be an obvious thing to do.

I have mostly crap copies on Vinyl, I've purchased the original Cd's when the released, so I feel like I can splurge on the 4LP and the Box set, plus it's being released on my Birthday... why not

It's meant to sound great but it's actually not. It's just more brickwalled and the vocals are raised way up. The recent Apple remasters sound great to me and I'll be sticking with those. The sessions materials do not interest me too much. I have the anthology CDs and that's plenty enough for me.

I'll hold off for the high resolution stereo downloads (assuming this follows the same release pattern as the 2017 Sgt Pepper's remaster).

What was the reasonable price you found Sgt. Pepper for and where?

I have been waiting to find one forever for a decent price and still have had no luck.

Re: The Beatles Announce ‘White Album’ Deluxe 50th Anniversary Edition 11/9

I got it from Amazon "Warehouse Deals" for about $60 last December (they list these with the other used items). It was in pretty good shape, but I think it was a return from someone as being "damaged." I didn't care about a slightly bent corner on the box, I really just wanted the CDs, so to me it was a good deal.

I see now it's around $90 used. I wonder if they get a lot of returns after release day shipments and then you can pick off some cheaper sets if you're not picky?

Re: The Beatles Announce ‘White Album’ Deluxe 50th Anniversary Edition 11/9

I don't know about getting this. I have the 87' CD, 09' Stereo & Mono remasters, and Anthology 3 which has a lot of awesome demos from this time period.

Plus, Bob Dylan's Blood on the Tracks box set is coming out around the same time!

I've got a lot of thinking to do between now and November.

Re: The Beatles Announce ‘White Album’ Deluxe 50th Anniversary Edition 11/9

I heard the Demos before and actually those were my first exposure to many of the songs on the album so I kinda love them.

But what I'm most interested on is the 5.1 mix, which it was released separately

Re: The Beatles Announce ‘White Album’ Deluxe 50th Anniversary Edition 11/9

Is it just me, or is $130 WAY too much money for 6 CDs and a blu of mostly cast-off material?

Like, it should be literally half as much, which still would by no means make it "cheap".

The Beatles have always priced their stuff more expensively than most other music acts.

But yes, I find it overpriced. If I could get it for under $75, I'd probably buy the set.

And $130 is actually a discounted price, so proportionately, this thing is priced even higher than the typical Beatles stuff.
