Fats Domino Dead at 89.

Fats Domino, the legendary New Orleans singer and piano player who took the '50s and '60s by storm ... is dead.

Domino died in New Orleans, surrounded by friends and family, according to his daughter. His hits were epic ... "Blueberry Hill," "Ain't That a Shame" and "I'm Walkin'."

Domino sold more than 65 million albums, and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1987. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1986.

He was deeply embedded in New Orleans, and did a lot of public appearances for relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina.

When I think of Blueberry Hill, I picture Richie Cunningham singing it frequently in Happy Days.

Chuck Berry and Fats Domino in the same year.

Someone better check on the Killer and Little Richard!

Fats was great, no doubt about it! What an era for music!

I was thinking of this right when I was clicking on this thread! Sad the we are going to be losing all the early pioneers, time is a hell of a thing.

I used to say Fats and Little Richard have the same thing going on where, for some reason I just can't believe they're still alive. Like that music all happened so long ago that they must be 110 years old. He was 89. He must have recorded Blueberry Hill when he was 7, right?

89 isn't a bad run for a big guy whose first name was literally Fats. Lardass Lawnjarts can breathe a sign of relief. l

By Jove, they're dropping like dominoes these days. RIP to this trailblazer.
