Christmas music 2017 - Thank goodness for Cheap Trick!!

I've made no secret in the past that I am a total sucker for Christmas music. But this season's new xmas music selections were looking pretty miserable.

Which just makes the new Cheap Trick xmas record, Christmas Christmas, a godsend this season. A bunch of high energy covers and a few originals done up in classic CT style. Includes what might be my favorite version of "Please Come Home for Christmas" and a great reworking of "Run Rudolph Run." Zander even does justice to Nilsson's "Remember Christmas." Hard to believe the guy is pushing 65. Not as sold on the obligatory children's choir original, "Our Father of Life," which sounds more like 2nd rate Polyphonic Spree than CT, but I'll forgive that one misstep when the rest of the record is a total blast.

A highly recommended record to kick off the holiday season.

Now keeping my fingers crossed that the new Hanson xmas record due out this Friday can live up to 1997's Snowed In.

^ just added this on Apple Music but haven't listened to it yet. Have you listened to it yet? It's still a bit too early for Christmas music to get in my daily rotation even though every store is already decorated lol

I just did one pass through on the Lindsey Stirling album (like you said, it's a little early) and enjoyed it. I think all but one song was instrumental.

I think Spotify recommended this one from Gwen Stefani, so I checked it out also. It was pretty good too, mostly traditional takes on the classics and reasonable number of original songs.

I might have to get the Lindsey Sterling album, christmas music is one of the few types of music I still like buying on cd.

"Christmas with Elvis and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra" brings together Elvis Presley’s best-loved yuletide performances from "Elvis’ Christmas Album" (1957) and "Elvis Sings the Wonderful World of Christmas" (1971) re-imagined with sublime and exquisite new arrangements performed by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Hard pass for me. You can't improve on this:

Gotta say that I'm unexpectedly really digging this first track off of Sia's upcoming Christmas CD
