What's Your 'The Martian' Playlist?

I was watching The Martian and there's a running joke where the Matt Damon character was lamenting the choice of only disco music on his commanders hard drive. What are the songs/albums that would make sure they would go with you on a trip to Mars?

My "Prince" Itunes playlist. It's well over 750 songs.

The short list?

Dream Theater
Pain of Salvation
Nightwish
Moulettes
Kenny Wayne Shepherd
Sully Erna
Ayreon (Universal Migrator particularly, it's about a lone survivor on Mars)

No offense, but a hard drive really is not much of a limit of how much music you have available. I have what I would consider a huge collection, and even at 320 quality, it all fits on one external HD.

A much better setup would be having to create an "Awesome Mix Tape" that was restricted to the length that would fit on both sides of one cassette.

Yeah, I've got 20-something days of music on my hard drive, with a ton of room to spare.

In the spirit of the question, though, I'd probably take Pink Floyd, Nine Inch Nails, Mechina, and some of the electronic compilations.

I would say "Rocket Man," but that song has been ruined for me for a while.

It's a surprise trip and you can only find a 1gb jump drive. Now, go!

I've got over a hundred iTunes HD digital copies on that same external drive and I can still fit my entire digital music collection on the same drive.

Anybody know approximately how many minutes of music you can fit on a 1gb thumb drive if it's all at 320 quality?

But as I implied earlier, these topics get interesting (IMO) when you have to make a call with as little as 10 or so choices. Like the old Desert Island 10 disc (CD) question. I would have to put a lot of thought into that once again because so many new albums have been released since the last time I came up with my 10.

A surprise trip to Mars. I like how you think.

The four big Pink Floyd albums would have to be on there
A good selection of Rush (2112 through Power Windows, more or less)
Red by King Crimson
The rest would be a folder of individual songs from my youth and some other random stuff. Would probably run out of space with a lot of stuff left behind.
