I'm a huge fan of this band but wasn't too crazy about the first single ("On Hold") from their new album. Liked everything but the Hall & Oates sample. The album is out today and it is quite fantastic. It's the best thing they've done to date. The lyrics are still dark but the production is surprisingly upbeat on many of the tracks.

This is by far their best album. I like the first two but this one is clutch. Great from start to finish. The sound is expansive, but still minimalistic. Jamie taking time off to produce his own album definitely helped here.

Absolutely. You nailed it with expansive and yet minimalistic. Couldn't agree more. There are actually harmonies on this album. Something they've never done before. Very excited to see where this band goes from here.

Plan to listen to this over the weekend. I frequently stream The XX throughout the house when playing music so eager to check out this new stuff.
