Used it to rent Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials. Already had a $1 video credit on hand so with the extra discount, it only cost me 50 cents total.

I think this is a promo to compete with Google Play. They are doing the same thing. You just go to the Google Play site, click the promo banner and it will automatically take off 75% on your rental. I think you have to click the banner by tomorrow, but it's valid until January 4th, 2016.

Can you play a movie rental from Google play via iPad/Apple TV?

Yes, through YouTube or by air playing the Google movies app.

used this last night for Comic-Con docu by Spurlock. worth the $1.75 i suppose. had gc anyway that covered it.

The way this is handled is a little annoying. I entered the code earlier and it was accepted. Saturday I rented a 5.99 movie. The e-mail and my invoice show 5.99. I had 9.00 in credits, -now I have 7.50, and no charge on my CC. So, the code's obviously "legit" and the rental cost me 1.50, but it doesn't show up in the records.

Yeah, it worked a bit weird but it worked. I rented a $5.99 movie but put the code in first. Amazon's site didn't show any discount when I hit the rent button, just the $5.99, but the order email I received did show the discount and said my grand total was $1.50, so I'm happy.
