Star Wars soundtracks Mega Box Set release / Jan. 8, 2016
from the digital bits:
"And in other news, Sony Music and Sony Classical have just announced that they’re re-issuing all 6 of John William’s classic Star Wars film soundtracks on vinyl box set (SRP $229.98), CD/DVD box set ($74.98), and lossless digital download (192kHz/24bit – no lossless download link is yet available, but we suspect HD Tracks and Pono Music will have it available). There’s also a “Mastered for iTunes” version available on iTunes for $49.99. Worldwide street date for all is 1/8/2016. Here’s a look at the vinyl and CD versions "

Hmm, y'know, they should also get around to releasing the classic MOVIES on disc too! These are soundtracks to movies that no longer exist.

I will likely get the CD box set at some point despite owning the Original Anthology box set. Williams did good work in the Prequels, just about the most competent thing in them.

the funny thing being I literally just bought the 'Star Wars: A New Hope' CD the other day, guess I should have waited - the DSD audio is gorgeous.

As much as I'd like to get the vinyl set its too much for me to drop on these. I'll likely get the CD set, maybe if they sell the remastered vinyl copies individually at some point down the road I'll pick up the albums for the Original Trilogy.

I have that DVD. It came out with the soundtrack to Revenge of the Sith. It's pretty cool in that they have music from all the films edited onto scenes and concept art from the respective movies. Unfortunately, the only stuff from Episode III is from the movie trailer (unless they re-edited it, which I doubt).

A repackaging of the 1994 CDs?

I don't really care for the soundtracks for the prequels.

Does CED no longer mean anything?!?
I have the soundtracks for Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back on 8-track. Don't think the one for Jedi made it out.
