Looks like we now have same day shipping here and it's free on orders of $35 or more. The site says that over one million items qualify but I haven't put it to use. If you don't meet the $35 minimum criteria then you will get charged $5.99 for the order and this is only for PRIME members.

Even if I was interested (which I'm definitely not), it wouldn't work for me as every time Amazon sends out a package that could be delivered same day then the courier never shows up and claims that my PO Box was closed (which it's not). I guess some people might have couriers who aren't lazy/too busy and inveterate liars, but if you do then it kind of defeats the purpose of this whole "Same Day" stuff.

I'll stick with non-Prime, the easy to hit $35, and wait a week or two while Amazon doesn't send out the package in order to "penalize" me for free shipping. Sounds nice for those who do appreciate such things though.

I am trying this out in my area for the first time today, and I sure hope it works. My printer ran out of ink all at once & I have to print out something tonight or else.

I've used this in Phoenix before. Works good. It's a lesser-known (and often unmarked) "courier" who will deliver.

Amazon beats up it's suppliers on pricing and plays take-it-or-leave-it with their money. The couriers stay in business until they run out of cash flow and are forced to give up. Then Amazon moves onto the next sucker who will undercut everyone else's pricing.
