LAMB OF GOD: "VII: Sturm Und Drang" -July, 2015

Lamb of God Drops Chilling, Prison-Inspired New Song 'Still Echoes,' Announces New Album

After spending time in a deteriorating Czech prison under manslaughter charges, Lamb of God's Randy Blythe is now a free man, and the band's new music has everything to do with his time behind bars.

Today (May 15), Lamb of God announced its next studio album, VII: Sturm Und Drang, will be available this July and dropped a new song called "Still Echoes," inspired by the dark legacy of Prague's Pankrác Prison.

Give the track a listen here. http://www.lambofgodvii.com/#

"This is a very, very dark, yet sonically highly varied, record," Blythe said via press release. "As it's always good to come out of the gate hard with a fast and aggressive one, we chose this track 'Still Echoes"' to kick it off. Enjoy/destroy."

The album was produced and mixed by Josh Wilbur with engineering by Wilbur, Nick Rowe and Kyle McAulay. It follows up Lamb of God's Grammy-nominated 2012 album Resolution.

Blythe was arrested and charged with manslaughter in 2012 for a 2010 incident, in which he allegedly caused the fatal injuries of a 19-year old Czech fan who fell offstage at a Prague concert. He was acquitted of those charges in June 2013 and released from Pankrác on bail.

"It was fucked up in there," Blythe told Rolling Stone. "It was 123 years old when I was in there, and it hasn't been under renovations. Parts of it look like downtown Detroit -- just broken windows and abandoned stuff. It's crazy in there. So the song is a history of the repression the Czech people have undergone." He also mentioned a guillotine housed in the prison, which was once used by the Nazis.

This July, Blythe plans to release a memoir titled Dark Days, also inspired by his time in prison.

Song is awesome. Seeing the comments in many other metal sites this seems to be the prevailing opinion. Can't wait for the album.

Odd that the mix on the YouTube version is different from the one on the home page, which sounds more intense. Either way, stoked on this album. It'll slay.

Listened to it once so far. I like it. Lamb of God doesn't stray to far from what they're good at, so beyond a couple of songs it's similar to previous albums.
