Anyone else notice the climbing MSRP on all new Blu-ray releases. Some new movies are now $45. It's starting to remind me of the price of new VHS movies way back in time.

The studios were hoping they could inflate MSRPs with 3-D editions, but we all know that didn't work very well for them.

What Hollywood hasn't recognized yet is that movie consumers are swimming in free or cheap content, it's a completely different ballgame than even a decade ago.

Some MSRPs are simply going up because older movies are being licensed away from the studio that owns the film. So the niche distributor has to charge more to recoup the licensing fee and their own cut.

Good point PS! I refuse to pay the price for the new LE BD Twilight Time releases. I will just keep my old DVDs of my favorite movies until further notice.

You do realize that the twilight time releases are printed in very low #'s which is why the MSRP is higher than most titles.

I hear you a78! It's just irritating to pay around $35 if you're lucky, for the classics the orig. studios should have released in BD. My old copies of Used Cars, RollerBall, Hard Times, and Thunderbolt and Lightfoot plus others, play just fine and I can't justify the BD upgrade cost at this time.

There are a bunch of films that Twilight Time released that are available in BD that can be bought elsewhere for less than $35. Some of them are reigon locked though like Rollerball and Thunderbolt and Lightfoot. Most of these releases are similar to Twilight Time and some might actually be better.
