War Dogs (2016, D: Todd Phillips) S: Jonah Hill, Miles Teller

EXCLUSIVE: Whiplash sensation Miles Teller has joined Jonah Hill to star in the Todd Phillips-directed Arms And The Dudes for Warner Brothers, based on the Rolling Stone article by Guy Lawson. The story follows two unlikely arms dealers who secured a $300 million contract to supply weapons for U.S. allies in Afghanistan. They soon found themselves in danger abroad and in trouble back home because they were completely out of their depth. Teller will play David Packouz, who was working as a licensed massage therapist in Miami before joining Efraim Diveroli in international arms-dealing. Scott Budnick, Mark Gordon, Todd Phillips and Bryan Zuriff.

Teller’s playing fighter Vinnie Pazienza in the Ben Younger-directed Bleed for This, and he stars as Reed Richards in the Fantastic Four reboot coming from Fox. Teller is repped by CAA and Stone, Meyer, Genow, Smelkinson and Binder.

Todd Phillips peaked with his first film. Everything since has been an embarrassment.

This could possibly be okay, but he'll turn it into a slapstick shitfest.

Meh, I have low standards and like most of his movies that aren't Hangover sequels.

Maybe, but his movies have grossed more than $1.5 billion so he must be doing something right.

Plus, he bet on himself for the Hangover and made $50M personally on it. Not too bad.

This looks like Lord of War's cousin.

I'm in.

I haven't watched the 2nd trailer (I hate watching multiple trailers for comedies, since they tend to give away the rest of the jokes) but the first one had me sold on this. One of the funnier trailers to come out this year.

Re: War Dogs (2016, D: Todd Phillips) S: Jonah Hill, Miles Teller

I saw this last night at a free screening. It was enjoyable. Although in two of my favorite movies of the last few years, Miles Teller has become pretty annoying to me, but he was fine in this. Some bits were pretty funny, but is isn't a full on comedy. The crowd seemed to enjoy it. I do think it needed a bit of a trimming to tighten the pace. Cooper was good in the very small part he has.

I wonder how well this will do opening weekend.

Here is the original Rolling Stone article: http://www.rollingstone.com/politics...alers-20110316

Also... talk about not casting for resemblance. The guy on the left is the Teller character, the guy on the right is Hill's

Miles Teller still looks like an ugly woman.

And I thought the trailer for this looked pretty bad.

I'd love to see a Nicholas Cage cameo as his Lord of War character.

I thought this was great - not a laugh riot but Phillips delivered, Jonah Hill was fucking awesome. Teller was fine...not great, just fine. Cooper is effective in his limited screen time and the movie moves at a decent pace (the gas station sequence is a highlight) - the payoff isn't perfect but I had a lot of fun with it.

A friend who saw the film said that Bradley Cooper is basically the Nicolas Cage character from Lord of War.

Either the live translation Jonah was getting was inaccurate, or the dude needs to take a joke.

I'd go for the latter. After this, I hear he canceled all of his French TV engagements.

What a big baby.

When she brought up sexual fantasy, Miles eyes lit up HAHA. That was a classic moment. Too bad they won't do this kind of stuff here in America. But dude takes himself WAY too seriously...I blame those Oscar nominations...

I thought this was a hell of a movie. Anyone calling this a comedy is off the mark quite a bit. It has comedic elements, but the comedy isn't the core of the film. I'd compare this to something like Three Kings or The Big Short.

I have really come to hate Jonah Hill. Proud of the Frenchies taking the piss out of him.

Watched this tonight and it was pretty cool. I hate Teller, because his face is insanely punchable but Hill was hilarious and a fucking dick. It does live up to the hype and I consider it a cousin to Lord of War.
