Welcome to the 6th annual DVDTalk Best Picture Oscar Poll!

Once again let's see how far apart we are from the Oscar voters. Keep in mind that this is a poll for our favorite movies and not an attempt to predict the actual Oscar winner.

I still need to see most of these, so I don't have an early opinion yet.

I can't vote yet. I have only seen 2 of the films. I'm waiting to see the schedule for AMC's Best Picture Showcase so I can try to catch up relatively quickly.

No, it's the OTHER Scarlett Johansson movie, UNDER THE SKIN.

Clearly, we should all be Academy voters..."our" picks look like they're going to have a lot more staying-power than "their" picks.

Yea... The fact that The Social Network did not win kind of blows my mind. The movie will stay much more relevant than The King's Speech.

I haven't seen a single movie on the list, but am going to try and at least see Birdman, Grand Budapest Hotel, and Boyhood.

Should see Whiplash too.

Having seen all but Selma, I'm going with Whiplash. Going to be hard to beat that for my preference. And judging by the thread for it, only a handful of users have seen it, so get on that shit if it starts playing again.

Whiplash is still in local theaters here. I just might check it out this weekend. This isn't a movie that I was expecting to see much interest in this poll.

Sadly, the only movie I've seen on the list is Grand Budapest, which delighted me more than any other movie in quite some years, so I can't imagine I'd wind up liking any of the other nominees better.

Still, I'll wait until closer to Oscar night before voting.

wow! i suck this year seeing only 2 (Boyhood, TGBH). will see Birdman very soon though and think this will win my meager vote...

Of the ones I've seen

Top Tier: Grand Budapest was the best, most fully realized movie.

2nd: Imitation Game, Boyhood and Whiplash were very professional and quite good.

3rd: Selma was good. But didn't really move me. American Sniper was good popcorn entertainment, but nothing more.

4th: The Theory of Everything was tremendously acted but not a particularly great film about Hawking, or in general. Birdman fits here too.

Haven't seen Birdman yet.

Edit: Saw Birdman, didn't care for it. Well acted, well directed, but the content just wasn't interesting to me.

I've only seen 3 (Boyhood,GBH,Selma) I'll check out Sniper next week.

Birdman's the one I want to see most.

I usually try to catch all (or most) the best picture nominees before Oscar night but a newborn baby at home is going to put a pretty big damper on that this year. So I'm going to pick the only nominee I've seen...Luckily, I also happened to really love it as well.

My vote: The Grand Budapest Hotel.

If Boyhood wins, I'm going to put a rock through my TV.

I'm in the exact same boat. Not sure when I'll get around to seeing some of the other movies.

Right now my vote would be for American Sniper but since that's the only one I've seen, probably not a fair vote

Boyhood was my favourite movie of 2014 so I'm glad it's the favourite to win.

Haven't seen American Sniper but I'm still willing to bet that Birdman will remain my favorite of the bunch.

I've only seen The Grand Budapest Hotel which was good but not Best Picture worthy in my honest opinion. I'm planning to see American Sniper tonight and will get to the others either on Blu-ray or if either of my local theaters get them. I'm most interested in Birdman and hope Keaton wins Best Actor as he's always been a favorite of mine.

Whiplash. I had a very low opinion of Miles Teller going into the movie and came out regretted of my previous uneducated stance. Miles and J.K. Simmon played extremely well playing a game of intellectual cat and mouse. Story, screenplay, cinematography, sound editing, Whiplash had the most complete package.

The only film I haven't seen is Selma, which I think it has the second highest chance of winning it. Oscar loves history movies.
