On the fence: movies you can't decide if they are good or bad
For me it's Silent Hill (2006). Upon my first viewing I thought it was awfully bad. On my second viewing I thought it was alright. I watched it again recently and thought it had its share of good moments, but it was still pretty bad. In other words, 50% works for me, the other 50% don't.

In The Realm of the Senses
There are some really beautiful scenes from the film from the Criterion BD but then... there are scenes where Sada Abe is like torturing/punishing a little boy by pinching his penis and then seeing an hobo man's cock, and etc. I'm very unsure if the unsimulated sex in the film enhances it's quality or not. It's a good BD though. I like the tale of Sada Abe but I'm very unsure if how it was done made it a good film or not for me.
A former prostitute (Eiko Matsuda), now working as a servant, begins a torrid affair with her married employer (Tatsuya Fuji).
In the Realm of the Senses (French: L’Empire des sens) is a 1976 French-Japanese art film directed by Nagisa Oshima. It is a fictionalised and sexually explicit treatment of an incident from 1930s Japan, that of Sada Abe. It generated great controversy during its release; while intended for mainstream wide release, it contains scenes of unsimulated sexual activity between the actors (Tatsuya Fuji and Eiko Matsuda, among others).

Batman Forever - Val Kilmer actually wasn't a bad Bruce Wayne though his Batman was weak, Jim Carrey might've been The Joker more or less but was a decent villain and the character development was pretty good and at least tried getting into Wayne's psychosis. And of course there's Nicole Kidman.
And then there's Joel Schumacher's over-the-top style that went into over driver in Batman & Robin and Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face. Groan. Oh, and Batman should NEVER smile!

For me it is Tusk. There are some brilliant moments and some not so brilliant moments, but I can't seem to decide whether I liked the movie or not. This is one of a few movies in the 3+ decades that I have been watching movies that this has happened.

Jack Reacher
I actually like TC in it but for some reason I felt it was a bad movie. Then again. I feel like watching it over. I actually can't makeup my mind about it.

I think Cruise can do well when cast in the right part, but he just has trouble selling that "cool tough guy" dialogue. Few actors can do that without being self-conscious and sounding false-Eastwood or Bogart, for example-and Cruise just isn't in that class. That said, McQuarrie has fun with the chewy dialogue and twist plot.

The Interview. I sort of liked it, but it's impossible to separate the movie from the surrounding story, and it pales in comparison to This Is The End (which it would probably have been compared to as a comedy about self-absorbed show business a-holes even if it didn't star these same actors). In a vacuum, I'd think it was a pretty-good comedy.
