Probably just going to get the standard release, though the Amazon exclusive is intriguing but I can see putting out that much extra for it. No interest in the Funimation exclusive.

The Amazon exclusive edition is pretty awesome, but I can't think of the last time I burnt $100 on anime. Like a decade ago? 
Don't have the money to waste that I used to when I was younger, I've got kids and stuff now 
What's the details on the PQ on this? Did they grab a new film transfer or something or is this just a fancy upconvert?

The extra features involving the voice cast seems to be focused mainly on the English cast(ie Dinner on the Bebop) which is too bad. I want to see more interviews with the original Japanese voice cast, and get their in depth perspective on what they think of the show in hindsight. An extended interview with Yoko Kanno is also welcomed

What's funny is I feel the exact opposite looking at the photos. I love the design of the Funimation one and don't care for the Amazon one. I may well spring for the Funimation one now that I have seen it. I just wish they weren't included a bunch of wasted DVDs. Makes no sense to me.

So neither exclusive release features any additional bonus features? I like the Amazon exclusive, but for significantly less money, I would just take the 4 disc blu-ray set without either of the art books.

I went ahead and pre-ordered with the discount. I was stuck there for a bit, because I am not sure if I'm getting this for review, so I covered all of my bases.

Just fyi for those on the fence with the new set that includes the dvds, I just sold my old complete series dvd set and netted $30 after fees at Half.com. So getting this new deluxe set from Funimation for less than 30 bucks is perfect.

Is the FUNimation Exclusive Edition just an envelope with slats cut into it? I hate that style. The Amazon one at least has a plastic case. But the price difference... tough choice.
