While a coworker was playing some music at work, I thought of this thread topic.

What song reminds you of a particular movie?

For example, my coworker was playing Barry Manilow today, and Mandy came on. I immediately thought of "Can't Hardly Wait". While Manilow's Mandy was released in 1974, "Can't Hardly Wait" was released in 1998.

Originally, the song had nothing to do with the movie. But everytime I hear the song now, I can't help but think of that movie.

Other examples include:

Wouldn't It Be Nice (Beach Boys) - "50 First Dates"

Don't Worry Baby (Beach Boys) - "Deja Vu"




On the other hand, I don't mean songs like "Eye of the Tiger", which was already accompanied with a particular movie (Rocky III).

"Mrs. Robinson" reminds me of Wayne's World 2.

Long Tall Sally by Little Richard will for we be cemented in my mind to be paired with Predator.

I'd never heard anything like him as a kid. That song though struck me as a wildly entertaining piece of work. I love LR's music now.

Lust For Life is fused in my mind to Trainspotting, which made it seem really odd when it was used for a travel agent commercial.

Also, I'm pretty sure even enthusiasts of Wagner think of "Ride of the Valkyries" as "the music from Apocalypse Now" (or else "Kill the wabbit! Kill the wabbit!")
