I looked through the qualifying books from the front page link and the promo didn't work, instead it automatically credited a Buy 2 get 1 Free. I still bought 6 books (2 free) for a decent deal, but not as good as 45% off.

The 45% off is working on used books like it's supposed to, at least now. There's also 5 for $20 on used books. The B2G1 was supposed to be for new books.

Okay thanks. Looking at the site's front page I thought the sale was on more than just used stuff. I guess I was right, they were just having a different sale on new items though.

Unfortunately, everything I'm interested in is showing up as "out of stock".
I did manage to get a used copy of the massive Dark Shadows Complete original series coffin set during their 40% off Cyber Monday sale.
45% off would've been an even greater discount, but there's no guarantee that it would still be available had I waited.
