How Good of A Deal is The Preston Sturgess Box @ $28.44?

I'm on the fence on this one; I already own Lady Eve & Sullivan's Travels.

Many others here are more aware than I of just how cheap things get. This is currently an Amazon Lightning deal @ $28.44. I also have to pay almost 10% sales tax with Amazon & do not have prime.

Good until about 4:15 PM PST

I got mine from Columbia House new for $7.00.

The Preston Sturges box is well worth owning; you get 7 comedy classics for around $4.00 a film. Checking camel^3, the last time this set was sold as new for this price was December 2, 2009. Used, the set has gone for as as low as $12. Bear in mind that catalog films are rapidly becoming extinct on pressed discs. You may regret not buying it now.

You always take a chance by passing on a deal, but this is not that spectacular. It's 4 bucks or so a film. I usually won't buy these boxsets unless they are < $3 a film and if the packaging does not include a separate keepcase/slimcase for each film, I expect it to be even lower than that (just my personal preferences and choices).

The only thing is that stuff like this tends to be cheaper at places like Costco or J and R, but again you are taking a chance.

My advice: If you really want it, PM this at BBY.com and then you have the option of returning it easily if you later decide you don't want it. Better hurry though.

Thanks to all. I assume your abbreviations mean price match at Best Buy? I get the same sales tax there........... I am on the fence on this one, especially after that great Fox sale of a week ago. You're right, I have to decide in an hour or less. With Amazon, I'd also have to buy a 2nd item for free ship.. This would be easier if they were blowing out 2 things I really wanted! There are 2 hi-res music releases I'm waiting for the price to drop on (Yes CTTE Blu & Jethro Tull Benefit DVD), but doesn't look like today's the day...........

I'm more concerned about my finances, I suspect I'd enjoy the 5 films I don't own in this. And depending on the quality I could possibly sell my Criterion of Sullivan's also. If there was no tax & free ship, I'd definitely bite.

yes, even if you are not elite, free ship > 25.

I'm going to reluctantly pass (for once actually dealing with my horrible finances!) & there are a number of things I want on BF (for one a Ton of the $7.99 Sandisk 32 gb drives at Radio Shack).

was it you that bought all those drives last year at Big Lots? What do you do with all those?

Thanks for the post. Actually may go to RS myself. I was going to get the one at BBY for 5.99, but it's only 16gb.

Tried to sell 'em on ebay & none sold, so I used them all (quite happily, they were excellent drives)

The RS Deal is also good on line; they will ship to store for free. I have heard rumor of an equally good deal on Sandisk 64 gb from RS, but can't confirm that one. I have confirmed the $7.99 on the 32 gb. I also bought 5 of these Sandisks from RS at (I think) $10? last year. All still work (both the Kodak branded Lexars from BL & the Sandisks from RS)
