The UPC indicates this is the original version of the complete series which was housed in the book-style packaging, and not the repackaged one that had them in standard cases. Still a good deal if they honor it.

All gone now anyway. We'll see if they ship, but I would doubt it.

DVD Planet has this in stock and it comes out a little cheaper -- $24.54 shipped. I went ahead and placed an order there since I had a $5 FBC discount available. I may cancel the DD order or hold off to make sure one of them comes through.

Correction. Search for The Wire and get a list of items. If you click on line that says the complete series for $21xx ,you go to a page that says it is no longer available. However if you click on the add to cart from the list of items from your search, it adds it to the cart and you can order. Weird. This one I will be surprised if it goes through.

Now that option is gone.

Damn, that was fast. So how many different versions of the complete series boxed set were there? Wasn't there one with horrendous packaging and one with a different kind?

There were two. One had the horrendous book-style packaging (the one on sale), which resulted in the usual-scratched disc phenomena.

Then the reissue has each of the 5 seasons in standard Amaray-style packaging, all encased in a slip box.

The new one is showing as shipping in 5 to 10 days , in other words out of stock. I would guess that one was shipping to the people who ordered for $24xx as I doubt a set that sells for over $100 would run out of stock. I would think they would have time to reorder an expensive item if they were running low. Here is hoping that is true. Good luck to those who got the deal!

Just received a cancellation e-mail from DeepDiscount:

A little odd in that I received 2 of these e-mails with individual $10 codes. Thought it was possibly since I ordered from DVD Planet as well. According to the sites, the order at DD has been cancelled, the one at DVD Planet is still open/backordered. I know I can't trust their site though, since my Twilight Zone/Dick Van Dyke sets still show "Not Yet Shipped" and I received them a week ago.

Disappointed not to get a great deal on The Wire, a show that I've not yet seen, but can't complain about the $10 codes.

I got the same cancellation notice. I ordered from DVD Planet but the e-mail came from DD. Oh well . I wonder if the coupon is good at DVD Planet where I have been finding better deals lately. If the Wire actually ships to anyone please let us know your good fortune.

Now I got an e-mail from DVD Planet saying my order for The wire was cancelled because they couldn't get credit approval from my credit card company.

Good question. And yes, that explains getting 2 e-mails/codes. The downside to my DVD Planet order is that I used $5 in FBC credit. Hopefully it won't be too much trouble to get back.

At the very least, these cancelled deals are great for lonely people who don't get much mail.

I'm thinking because these two companies are owned by the same group of people, hence why you received two of those codes, one for DD and the other for Planet and they were two separate orders as well. Take advantage of those codes while you can.

Well, this is very interesting. I put a few items in my cart at DD.com and enter the $10 code that was sent to me. It takes $10 off of every item in the cart! I haven't gone all the way through the check-out process, but surely this wasn't meant to work this way.

Wow, They haven't fixed it yet. Will we get another $10 coupon when they notice and cancel these orders? I made sure everything I ordered was over $10 as if it was under $10 it went in the cart with a negative price. It would be nice to get the Warner Archive blu rays for $3 to $6 if these orders actually ship.

You could end up getting a whole bunch of cancellation notices with more $10 coupons. Sort of like those paintings of mirrors that show a row or mirrors stretching endlessly.

This doesn't look good. I checked my order at DD and while the total of the order is there, none of the items in the order are listed.
