Remember when we were thrilled to get a disc with a couple of shorts on it for around $15?

I paid $30 a piece when they started releasing them and the quality was suspect, not to mention having shorts with an edit in them. I had all of them, so I shutter to think how much I actually spent.

This is such an unbelievable deal. Highly recommended.

I dragged my feet and missed this same deal when Family Video offered it a few weeks back; I've been kind of kicking myself but I figured a similar deal would pop up.

I told myself I'd pick this up the next time it hit this price, but I'm sort of avoiding Best Buy as I wait for their holiday return policy to kick in.

Don't wait too long now so you don't lose out on it yet again at that price.

That is a hell of a deal and hoping you get it and enjoy the great comedy of the Stooges. Trust me, it's worth every damn penny of it.

I believe it kicked in yesterday. The cashier highlighted this on my receipt:

"Gift purchases made between Nov 3rd and Dec 31st qualify for our Holiday return and exchange policy. Products purchased as gifts may be returned through Jan 15, 2014."

I missed the last $30 sale so I picked it up last month when user "mediablasters" was selling it on eBay for $37. (Current price: $48.44.) I've been working my way through it and would strongly recommend snatching it up now. $30 is a steal. You'll spend over $100 if you buy the nine volumes separately. The ninth volume with the extras sells individually for $20.

Interesting wording. Do you have to specify it's a gift when you buy it? Otherwise, how do they know?

The cashier didn't ask me whether my purchase was a gift. She just said that their holiday return policy had started and circled it on my receipt.

Maybe they're considering all purchases during this period gifts to make it easy. I don't know.

Amazon has already run out of stock and removed their listing.

Best Buy has this available for in store pick up only now. Sold out at Best Buy dot com. All stores near me apparently have it in stock so hopefully most stores have stock.

For that price, I kind of knew they were going to be sold out on Amazon, BUT you can always check Best Buy's store inventory near you to see who has it available...it's sometimes but not always an accurate count on there.

Thanks OP. I hesitated in the past because I have several of the earlier releases, but this price is really too good to pass up. Plus, the comedy challenge is ongoing now.

I did in store pickup today. I have been in the store a couple times this week (I walk to the mall every other day) and hadn't seen any copies, but the website said the store had it. So when I ordered it online, I kind of figured they wouldn't find it. Then when I got the email to say it was ready, I wondered if it would be the right item. Imagine my surprise that when I was in there today, I saw 3-4 on top of the displays with the latest releases. Long story short (too late), I got my copy.

I found one on the shelf today and it rung up for $29.99. What a freaking steal. Plus I used that mystery reward coupon that they emailed out a week or so back for an additional $5 back. Just over $26 with tax. Is this even legal?????

Back in the day, the only way to get the bulk of these shorts was through trading with people in the Three Stooges Fan Club and on message boards. And it wasn't easy. Most of the 190 shorts had never been released on home video in any capacity, so you'd have copies sourced from 16mm collectors prints and recordings from a station in Chicago that aired them on Saturday nights uncut.

That was the bigger feat. The shorts had been chopped in syndication since the 90s with gags completely removed (when on the Family Channel) or for time with commercial breaks thrown in (when airing on AMC).

The fact that Sony went back and remastered every short, along with the surviving 2-reel comedies of Joe Besser, Shemp, and "Curly Joe" DeRita, speaks volumes. They delivered in the end after years of sub-par, mediocre releases (remember the colorized ones?).

Still waiting for the inevitable BD release, though.

Trust me, you got a hell of a deal there and enjoy the heck out of it. Haven't seen it any cheaper than this.
