A Fistful of Sheep! (Clint Eastwood Sheep)

A Fistful of Sheep! (Clint Eastwood Sheep)

Welcome to Clint Eastwood Sheep, where you can impress us all with your knowledge of the man, the myth, and the legend.

Intro for first time players
Spoiler:
(Reverse) Sheep is a game that is part Family Feud, part trivia game. The object of the game is to outwit other players through a series of questions that are usually united in theme. There are two types of questions.

The first, Sheep, is one where you try to think like everyone else and match their answers. The more people you match, the better you do. Let's say we have a game of six players (A through F). A Sheep question might be something like "Name a great color." Sheep questions never have right or wrong answers. Let's say our five players answered like this:

Players A, C, and E said "Blue"
Players B and D said "Green"
Player F said "Chartreuse"

Scoring in Sheep games is like golf: the lower your score, the better. The "Blue" players get -3 points (and the best answer). The "Green" players get -2 points. Player F did not match anyone and gets 0 points.

The second type of question, Reverse Sheep, is the exact opposite. You want to avoid matching other players. A Reverse Sheep question might be something like "Name a state on the Atlantic Coast." Reverse Sheep questions always have right or wrong answers. Let's say our players answered like this:

Players D and E said "Delaware"
Players F and B said "Maine"
Player C said "Texas"
Player A said "South Carolina"

The "Delaware" players get +2 points (a penalty, since you want to have a low score). The "Maine" players also get +2 points. Player C's answer might be debated among the players to see if it is considered correct or not. Wrong answers always score above the most common answer. You're always better off going for something obvious than for something obviously wrong.

That's the gist of it. Each person running a game adds little rules here and there but those are the basics.

General Rules
Spoiler:
The object of the game is to out-think everyone by picking answers to questions that are the most common (Sheep) or least common (Reverse Sheep), but still correct.
Example Sheep question: "Name a professional golfer." A good answer might be Tiger Woods and a bad answer might be Chichi Rodriguez.
Example Reverse Sheep question: "Name a play by Shakespeare." Romeo & Juliet might be a bad answer, but Two Gentlemen of Verona might be a good answer. (Unless everyone is trying to go as obscure as possible).
Scores are tallied according to the number of players answering that question. Sheep answers are tallied as negative. Reverse Sheep answers are tallied as positive. The lowest score wins.
There is no such thing as wrong answer for a Sheep question.
Wrong answers in Reverse Sheep are scored two points above the most common answer.
You may not cheat by using Google, Wikipedia, etc. Use only what's in your head.
Please send in your answers to me via PM. Place only one answer per line, without numbers, set info, or the question itself. Add {sd} to the end of the answer, not the beginning. Those who do not do this will be penalized 20 points right off the bat.
Note: Be creative with your answers, but don't be stupid.
Sheep questions are marked by an S:, Reverse Sheep questions are marked by an R:.

Game-Specific Rules
Spoiler:
Unique Bonus: Reverse Sheep questions will generate additional bonus (negative) points according to the following:
1 Unique is awarded -15
2 Uniques are awarded -10 each
3 Uniques are awarded -6 each
4 Uniques are awarded -3 each
5+ Uniques are awarded -1 each
Slam Dunks {sd} Players have the power of multipliers in their hands. Each player is given five (5) Slam Dunks ({sd}s) which they use by adding {sd} to the end of their answer. Slam Dunks have different effects depending on the question you use them in:
In Sheep questions, the {sd} adds 1 to the Multiplier. Due to stacked Slam Dunks becoming a bit too powerful in these games, I’m limiting the stacking to 2 on any given question. If you place more than that on a single question, the additional Slam Dunks will not count.
In Reverse Sheep questions, you can use a single {sd} to turn the question into a sheep question for you. However, if your answer is wrong, it does nothing. If you stack {sd}'s, it will turn the score back into a reverse sheep question.
I will correct mistakes made when sending me your answers at a cost of 10 points.

Other notes

- Unless a question specifies otherwise, answers should be given for Clint Eastwood theatrical releases ONLY. No TV shows or TV appearances should apply here.

- I plan on taking up to 30 players, so once we get close to filling I’ll close things off (if you snooze, you lose).

Here are your questions...

01. S: Clint Eastwood became an international star starting with his work in Westerns. What's Clint's best Western?

02. R:. Clint also became an iconic director. Name a movie directed by Clint Eastwood.

03. R: Clint doesn't always star in the movies he directs. Name a movie directed by Clint Eastwood in which Eastwood is NOT an actor.

04. S: Clint was in a relationship with Sandra Locke for 14 years in which he gave her co-starring roles in his films. Name a Clint Eastwood movie with Sandra Locke in it.

05. S: Clint likes to hire his friends a lot as well. Name an actor/actress who has appeared in two or more Clint Eastwood movies (Note: for purposes of this question, Clyde the orangutan is NOT an acceptable answer).

06. R: Clint's played a lot of cops. Name a cop Clint has played that's NOT Harry Callahan.

07. S: He never said "I'll be back," but Clint's characters are known for their memorable lines. What's Eastwood's most memorable movie quote?

08. S: Dirty Harry got a lot of his partners killed. Name one (Character name or actor + movie title is acceptable).

09. S: Clint didn't always impress us. Name Clint's worst movie.

10. S: But most of the time he did. Name Clint's best movie.

11. S: Clint's been nominated for two Best Actor Oscars for Unforgiven and Million Dollar Baby, but didn't win either. Name another movie for which Clint should have gotten a Best Actor nomination.

12. S: Many of Clint Eastwood's movies were based on novels. Name one such movie.

13. R: Clint has spent most of his career at Warner Bros. Name a film of Clint's (acting, directing, or both) that was NOT a Warner Bros. movie.

14. R: Morgan Freeman won an Oscar for his role in Million Dollar Baby, and Gene Hackman won an Oscar for Unforgiven. Name another (NOT Freeman or Hackman) Oscar-winning actor that appeared in a Clint Eastwood film (the Oscar need not come from an Eastwood movie).

15. S: Clint has romanced a lot of leading ladies in his movies. Which one was the hottest (Character name or actress + movie title acceptable here)?

16. S: Clint's taken on a lot of bad guys as well. Which one was the most memorable (again, character name or actor + movie title acceptable here)?

17. S: Most of Clint's characters over the years have been pretty bad-ass. Which one was the MOST bad-ass?

18. S: "Dying's not much of a living…" Name Clint's best on-screen killing of a bad guy (include movie name and character name and/or description of scene).

19. S: "Nobody, and I mean nobody puts ketchup on a hot dog." Name Eastwood's all-time FUNNIEST one-liner (include movie title with quote).

20. R: Clint was born in San Francisco and some of his movies have been set there. Name an Eastwood movie where San Francisco is the primary location.

I tried filling these out, but I realized I was in over my head when I got to question #6. I'm more of a casual fan who watches Eastwood films if I see them flipping through channels on television. I don't have enough good knowledge built up to answer these.

Does the actor in #14 have to have been in an Eastwood directed film, or just a film Eastwood has acted in?

The actor (or actress) in #14 can be in EITHER an Eastwood-directed or Eastwood-starring film (or obviously both if it's an Eastwood-directed movie that Eastwood also stars in).

I liked the questions, although I had problems with two of them and I won't say what answers I gave.

#19, his funniest one-liner, was difficult because I couldn't offhand remember anything that was particularly funny--and I didn't want to break the rules by looking up any quotes. I eventually remembered four: one was funny only in retrospect; one had elicited only chuckles when I saw it in a theater; one had gotten a good laugh; and one had gotten a big laugh--each of the many times I saw it. So I went with the last and hope others will remember it that way, since it was a sheep question.

#15 was the only question I would take issue with. Eastwood probably worked with fewer leading ladies than any comparable star of his stature in Hollywood history. I honestly could think of only two beautiful actresses Eastwood has worked with in all his decades as a leading man and both worked with him long before most of you were born. I went with the one I thought of first, although I doubt anyone else would pick her, even though it's a sheep question.

I had trouble with that one as well.

Re: A Fistful of Sheep! (Clint Eastwood Sheep)

Here's a list of who's in the game so far. If I don't have you listed (as of the time of this posting), I may have missed your answers.

Unless a ton of people sign up tomorrow, we may hold off the start until Monday - I'd rather not do this on a weekend. If we're still under the limit come Sunday, I'll close the submissions at some point and just use the players who have signed-up.

Thanks to those who have joined the game.

For #6, does "cop" mean local police or any law enforcement person?

I'm a big Eastwood fan, but it may work against me here. I tried to put down answers I think would be the sheepiest, but I'm not sure how much the average person knows about some of his movies, so I could be way off.

Looking forward to results!

I also struggled with no. 6. Mainly because the Dirty Harry series is so iconic.

No. 19 was also a struggle because some of his best lines aren't really funny when taken out of the context of the movies.

nevertheless, I'm a big Eastwood fan, which means that I will be a serious contender for last place.
