BADGES OF FURY (S: Jet Li)

It's like something left over from Jet Li's early 90's output:

Jing Wu from SPL is in it. That dude is pretty bad ass and he hasn't done anything in a long time.

Not necessarily a bad thing. That was a golden age for him and Hong Kong action cinema in general. Though it was a very particular time, and the trailer doesn't exactly look promising, and the humor looks like it might be all that effective. First-time director too, apparently. Yuen Kwai is doing the action, why not just let him direct? I'd like something a bit more hard-boiled, and it looks like there'll be plenty of wire work, but hey, Li is getting old. Chui Po Chu's resume as producer isn't exactly sterling either, in spite of them playing up the CTHD and KFH angle.

Him I know, and I believe that Colling Chou Siu-Lung was impressive in The Matrix Reloaded and Fearless. That's not exactly the dream combo of, say, Jet Li Lian-jie, Donnie Yen Ji-dan, and Tony Jaa Panom that a martial arts fan would hope for, but I suppose it'll have to do, since apparently Tom Yum Goong 2 isn't happening.

Bad review from this site. Apparently the trailers are deceptive, it's a full out comedy.

9 times out of 10, I hate goofy Kung Fu comedies. Looks like I'll be passing on this one.

I'll watch it if it comes to Netflix Instant. I'd like a full-fledged Li HK actioner, but I think he's just getting too old.

That's the vibe I got from the first trailer.

Yeah, that trailer wasn't hiding what it was.

I just got this one to review. You can obviously tell (at least I could) that it's an action comedy. We'll see how it goes. I'm really impressed at Well Go USA - they release a lot of material every month.

I think the comedic elements are pretty obvious from the trailer, IMO, that was the obvious impression I got anyway.

I'm talking about the Well Go trailer that is marketed to American audiences, not the HK trailer. I posted it in Post #5.

The Well Go trailer makes it look like a non-stop badass action movie. That's the one IMO that looks really deceptive.

That's the trailer I saw and I could tell it was a comedy romp. I'll take a look at it again.
