Exclusive: Die Hard 6 gets a screenwriter and a title
After the Russia-based antics of A Good Day To Die Hard, we’ve gleaned some exclusive details about the next installment in the Die Hard franchise.
Die Hard 6 - or Die Hardest, as it’s currently known - is currently at the writing stage, with Brit Ben Trebilcook penning a treatment.
Trebilcook is currently working on Knockout, a videogame-themed actioner set to star real-life martial arts stars. It was on this film that he came into contact with Larry D. Webster, consulting producer on A Good Day To Die Hard.
Through discussions with Webster, Trebilcook landed the Die Hard 6 treatment-writing gig. Details are scarce at the moment, but we know that the story begins in New York, before moving to Tokyo, which will be the predominant location.
As the project’s at the treatment stage, we’ll have to wait to see if this one does progress to production, but Trebilcook thinks his take will please fans. “It is extremely faithful to the franchise and characters and is a natural progression. It's also a very plausible storyline,” he told us.
Clarifying the current status of Die Hard 6, Trebilcook added, "Getting Larry's support was great, but there are many hurdles to leap yet and two of those are called Bruce Willis and [producer] Alex Young. [There's] the possibility producers might go back and find some other source material to base the next one on, like they did with the first and second. Mine though, I feel it could be the Rocky Balboa of the Die Hard franchise."

^ That was the last one.
I'm a huge Die Hard fan but part 5 soured me enough that as much as I'd love to see the series end the right way I have no faith that the filmmakers have any idea how a make a decent Die Hard movie let alone a proper end to the series.

They should take it back to its roots. One man against a bunch of terrorists in a confined location.
Its been long enough (since Under Siege & Speed 2), they should do what #3 was rumored to be: Bunch of terrorists take over a crusise ship & he has to save the day. Have his kids conspire to get him back with Holly. They book them onto a cruise ship without each other knowing. They don't find out they are on the same ship until they set sail. Terrorists show up. Holly is in with the hostages Yiipi Ki Yea time!!

They should just get whoever wrote Olympus Has Fallen to write this next one. Only way it'll be good.

It makes too much sense...and is too simple.. therefor... they won't do it. Instead they'll just take a shit.

Speed 2 was already on a cruise ship. Under Siege was on a battleship. So the next available water vessel is a submarine. Stick McClane in a nuclear sub.

This. The first four were great but the last one was such an awful, awful movie. He doesn't belong out of the country -- being an "everyman cop" is part of the appeal of his character.

FOX has stated there's absolutely no truth to that story...there's been no development on another DIE HARD movie.

I'm not opposed to another DIE HARD movie, but it has to be done right...not just a cash grab. FOX should really be embarassed about the one we got this year...it served no other purpose than to make money overseas. They should have just released it over there and made it direct-to-video over here.

Agreed. Although Olympus Has Fallen had a lot of really dumb stuff in it that you just had to ignore, it felt a hell of a lot more like a Die Hard movie than A Good Day To Die Hard ever did.

Presumably in this one terrorists will invade his retirement home.
Weren't there rumors about a Speed 3 involving a rocket ship at one point?
