Furious 7 (Fast & Furious) (2015, D: Wan) S: Diesel, Walker, Statham, Johnson
I think it is time this got its own thread considering most of the talk in the other thread is about this one.

BREAKING: Star Vin Diesel just announced at CinemaCon that Universal‘s The Fast And The Furious 7 will be released July 11, 2014 with the entire cast — including Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson and Tyrese — set to return. That date is just more than a year after Fast And Furious 6, which opens May 24 and is still in postproduction. The studio is doing its presentation for exhibitors right now and Diesel is part of the group unveiling footage from the upcoming pic. Our Mike Fleming scooped that James Wan is in negotiations to direct the seventh installment of the franchise, which brings back longtime producer Neal H. Moritz of Original Film, and Chris Morgan is returning to write his fifth script and will be an exec producer. Production on the new one starts in August — a fast turnaround that begins right after the stars finish publicity on No. 6.
James Wan is now confirmed to direct.

Why is the Director a ?, I thought James Wan was confirmed.

Not as long as it's making righteous bucks! BTW, the Rock posted that he will probably miss this one, or at least most of it, because he is shooting Hercules next summer. They are in development of a Hobbs spin-off though.

Funny how 6 hasn't even come out yet and 7 will go into production 4 months from now.

I am glad to see Chris Morgan staying on as a writer. I'm sure he probably has an early draft of the script done.

Part 6 supposedly took 6 months to film. If they wrap by February, they will have roughly 4-4 1/2 months for post production.

- Deadline.com reports that shooting for Fast and The Furious 7 will kick off in August, which may present a problem for The Rock, who will be filming Hercules this summer. In a recent interview, The Rock told Collider.com that it would be impossible to shoot for the film that soon:

"It's not possible for me because I'm shooting Hercules this summer starting in 6 weeks in Budapest, so, possible for them I'm not too sure. I haven't heard anything about that and I'm pretty sure I would have gotten a phone call pretty early in the morning if that was the real plan. Not quite too sure though."

Speaking of Statham, there are rumors that (possible spoilers for 6):


Spoiler:

At the end of 6, Statham kills Sung Kang's character and is the bad guy in 7. Changing but tying into Tokyo Drift's depiction of his death.

- The Rock told media in Europe that he will be filming Hercules for 18 weeks weeks from the middle of May through October.

If that's the case, Hobbs could definitely be part of the next movie. 7 starts shooting in August and will probably film for 5-6 months. Plus, movies shoot scenes out of order anways.

Yup. That's why I'm hoping for a Statham-Diesel showdown.

If not for the spinoff, they could have had him offed by Statham relatively early in the movie. Or have Johnson show up at the very end to lend a hand.
