Looking for filmmakers of note who self-release/distribute their films for home media.

A few years back I discovered Trent Harris' The Beaver Trilogy which features a young Sean Penn and Crispin Glover and is very interesting to say the least.

Shane Carruth is self-releasing Upstream Color, and he seems to have the rights to Primer (previously distributed by MGM), since he's offered it on his website.

Kevin Smith self-released Red State about 2 years ago, although Lionsgate handled the DVD/BR distribution.
