Because the first one surprisingly made a lot of money...

I'll go out on a limb and say this will be one of the films Roger Ebert will skip due to his health issues.

I really hate to admit it but I have a soft spot for these movies. I'll watch. And no I didn't like Jack & Jill it was awful.

Not sure if he was available while shooting his own show at the time.

Maybe he felt the quality of the material was beneath him.

I actually liked the first one, but this looks like a real piece of shit.

The car scene looks to be the only funny part.

I doubt Schneider would ever be stupid enough to bite the hand that feeds. I read somewhere he had obligations to a tv show he was doing.

It's not the type of movie that I'd see at the theater, but I'll end up catching it on video.

Schneider was filming his now-canceled sitcom !Rob! when they were filming this which is why he isn't in it.

I didn't finish the first one. I thought it was almost painfully unfunny. Even by Sandler standards it was bad.

Still at 0% on RT. Here's a snippet of one of the many negative reviews. Includes spoiler!

"In the first five minutes, a deer walks into the star's bedroom and urinates on his face. It's all downhill from there."

I love this part from Variety: "Among the slackest, laziest, least movie-like movies released by a major studio in the last decade, "Grown Ups 2" is perhaps the closest Hollywood has yet come to making "Ow! My Balls!" seem like a plausible future project."

Re: Grown Ups 2 (oh, what's the use of listing things...)

Unlike Sandler's Jack and Jill, 50 First Dates rom-com crap, this seems like perfectly good bottom of the barrel comedy that made the first Grown Ups enjoyable in a "see it in theaters with friends and laugh at crap like you did 10 years ago" way.

I saw the first one in theaters and while retroactively I can say, the movie is terrible, it was a perfect, nothing better to do, let's just see a stupid comedy movie. It's the best Sandler can offer these days. Grown Ups was far closer to Little Nicky and Waterboy (his comedies I can handle) than 50 First Dates (when I finally stopped going to Sandler comedies).

He takes a lot of shit, but really, he is more like Jerry Lewis (also grating) than people realize, it's just that he's a contemporary man-child character. I imagine Lewis without Martin probably annoyed a hell of a lot of people too. Maybe the French will celebrate Sandler in a few decades.

Comparing Jerry Lewis to Adam Sandler is like comparing a bouquet of roses to some of the most uncontrollable and sloppy, explosive, and watery shits imaginable. Pee out of your butt. PURE. DIARRHEA.

There is a very thin line between the two in terms of their "go to" on screen persona.

Lewis benefited from more talent behind the camera and in front (Dean Martin), but really, they both play "the idiot." History and the French make the comparison seem more far fetched than it actually is in reality.

It is easy to hate on Sandler's "idiot" characters, but American critics did the same exact thing with Lewis' "idiots" when his films came out too.
