Movies that spawned TV shows?

In another thread, a bunch of 80's cartoons came up that were based on movies.

Rambo, Karate Kid, and Robocop were some of them.

What other movies spawned TV shows? Cartoons or live action?

Feel free to post the intros from YouTube.

Re: Movies that spawned TV shows?

Ghostbusters (the Real Ghostbusters)
Godzilla (the Broderick one, though the original Godzilla movies did spawn a cartoon as well, with Godzooki)
For a while there pretty much every Disney animated movie (I think it started in the 90s) had a cartoon series sequel: Aladdin, Little Mermaid, Lilo and Stitch, etc. (the only reason I remembered is because Disney is showing some of these on weekends)
Star Trek
Star Wars Clone Wars (two different series)
Clerks
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure

I have vague recollections of a Spaceballs cartoon.

Stargate is an obvious example.

RoboCop was also a live-action series in 1994 (coincidentally the year Stargate came out)

Another obvious example is Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

Ferris Bueller and 9 to 5 had short-lived sitcom adaptations. There was a pilot for an L.A. Confidential series.

Re: Movies that spawned TV shows?

Was Friday Night Lights (TV) from the book or a retelling of the movie? I know a few actors basically reprised their roles from the film (I guess that's similar to Dash in Clueless).

Darkman got a pilot, but never went to series.

The Odd Couple, MASH, Operation Petticoat, Barefoot in the Park, Alien Nation, Planet of the Apes, Tremors, Blue Thunder, and a metric buttload of cartoons. Going way back - Mr. Lucky, The Third Man, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. Alice is one of those that people forget was based on a film.

Argh! I was thinking of live action stuff turning to cartoons, but yeah, obviously that all came from the tv show, not the movies. Urgh.

Totall Recall

It was weird because it had nothing in common with the movie other than being set in the future.

Not that they got past pilot stage, but Blazing Saddles and L.A. Confidential were both planned to get a series.
