Synopsis:
Quentin Tarantino presents THE MAN WITH THE IRON FISTS, an action-adventure inspired by kung-fu classics as interpreted by his longtime collaborators RZA and Eli Roth. Blending astonishing martial-arts sequences from some of the masters of this world with the signature vision he brings as the leader of the Wu-Tang Clan and as one of hip-hop’s most dominant figures of the past two decades, RZA
embarks upon his most ambitious, stylized and thrilling project to date.

Rotten tomatoes has it as 83%. 6 reviews w/ 1 of them being rotten. Interesting. I'll probably end up seeing it just cuz the cast of it is so far out for me along w/ RZA being the director and co writer of it.

The very idea of this film is obviously a farce. Hip-hop community loving and embracing another culture because they know they've completely failed within their own.
It's all a laugh but when it results in shit like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpL0xVIYbnU
its's all good.

Rza has a huge respect for the films that obviously inspired this and I love them too... I'm in.

RZA is quite passionate about old school martial arts movies. He was really into the old Shaw Bros. movies in the 70's and 80's. I listened to his commentary tracks on the Dragon Dynasty DVD releases and he told his story on there.
So to say this is some kind of parody or farce moking the genre is flat out ignorant.

exactly. That commentary on 36th Chambers was good. I took for granted that he loved the genre cuz it was mentioned..but hearing him talk about it REALLY surprises w/ how much he really really does love it.

I disagree with just about everything you post. I don't know much about Wu Tang Clan or much hip-hop. But I always like seeing RZA. I remember that he worked with Jim Jarmusch a couple times - and that's when I first noticed him. Then he did something on the Kill Bill soundtrack (didn't it start out with him supposedly 'scoring' the whole thing?). And I always like seeing him here and there.

RZA is the bomb, yo. I discovered him on Ghost Dog. That score is amazing.

Yes, but you're a person who sucks the metaphorical cock of crazy and nobody here really gives a fuck about you. You're a goddamn troll.

Kyle Smith gives this a one-star review in the New York Post:
http://www.nypost.com/p/entertainmen...tVNbtvMhnPRg2L
The last two paragraphs are choice:
Granted, Smith doesn't have the appreciation for old-school kung fu that I do, so I take his critique with a grain of salt, although I'm guessing that after I see this, I may wish my time might have been better spent watching an actual old-school kung fu movie again.
http://www.nypost.com/p/entertainmen...tVNbtvMhnPRg2L
The last two paragraphs are choice:
Heads depart shoulders, arteries spurt, and the actors speak in the affectless way of amateurs who are reading through lines they have just been handed, in order to sound just like the hacks who dubbed in the voices on the Hong Kong flicks back in the ’70s. You can sense Quentin Tarantino, who “presents” this movie (whatever that means), getting really excited about all the chop-socky action and corny dialogue, but Tarantino’s genuine appreciation for bad 1970s movies is something I am unable to fathom. Have you ever tried to sit through the original “The Inglorious Bastards”? It makes “The A-Team” look like Shakespeare.
We’ve seen this kind of spoof before, in the fake trailers inserted into “Grindhouse,” which proved that a dead-on parody of an exploitation movie can be hilarious in a brief blast. “Machete,” a feature-length spinoff of one of those trailers, added ironic wit, but “Iron Fists” plods along without any such tweaks. At 96 minutes it is exactly 93 1/2 minutes too long. If they’re going to put this artifact in theaters, they’d better charge 1973 grindhouse prices: a dollar a ticket.

What an absolute piece of shit movie this was. I cant believe Tarantino watched the final cut of this movie and agreed to keep his name anywhere near this. This is in the same class as Howard the Duck and Goodburger, yes it is that bad.

Being someone who will stop and watch both of those movies whenever they come on cable, this put a movie I was definitely going to give a pass back on my radar...

The actors that could pull off good movie-style kung fu had their efforts ruined by horrible camerawork, while the choreography for RZA and Crowe was just laughable at best (I know RZA supposedly knows martial arts, but it sure didn't look like it to me).
Bautista's character was pretty neat, although even there the movie failed... he spent half his fights just throwing people around.
Just ugh. Hoping Wreck It Ralph is better today.

I thought the movie was pretty awesome. The only two glaring things that stick out is the editing work, but in terms of choppiness, but as in pace and flow. This flick started out as a 4-hour opus that was trimmed to about 90-minutes by Roth and company. I'm hoping there will be an uber-deluxe director's cut in the future.
The film is called "Man with the Iron Fists," but he doesn't seem to be our main protagonist. It's Man with Iron Fists co-starring the Man with Iron Fists. That was kind of strange, but there was so much going on in terms of sex, uber-violence, and carnage that I didn't give a shit. It's a freakin' homage-spoof of the genre, so what do you expect? I know what I expected and it's fine. I'll scoop up the Blu-ray when it hits stores.

Good Burger is a Criterion movie. Plus there have been rumors of a Howard the Duck Criterion movie for years. Now, with the whole Lucasfilm/Disney thing, Howard the Duck remains in limbo as both Criterion and Disney are fighting over blu ray distribution rights. I don't look forward to being the loser in that battle because they're going to lose tons of money. If Man with the Iron Fists is as great as these movies, I'm just going to have to come to the realization that I'm going to shit myself for a third time(after Howard and Good Burger obviously) in my adult life after seeing the glory of cinema. Pampers store, here I come!
