Based on that video, I predict the Oscars will be less entertaining than Anne Hathaway and James Franco's year.

Now I have yet one more reason not to watch.

As long as he doesn't pull out his tired lounge singer act I'm cool with it...but we all know he's going to.

How is this even possible? Matt Groening never hosted the Oscars.

I'm just surprised so many of you are fans of Seth.

As the years go by, the hosts are less and less important to the show.

However, I would rather see some experimental choices like McFarlane rather than a repeat of Whoopi or Steve Martin or even Billy Crystal. Sure I'd rather see Conan O'Brien or Ricky Gervais or (never in a million years) Patton Oswalt, but I'd rather McFarlene than a whole host of other people.

It's been a long long long time since it's been the least bit important.

Commented on it earlier - it's a solid pick (he did a great job on SNL) as long as he doesn't start relying on his Family Guy characters.

I've never seen him in anything nor have I seen anything by him. He's a completely unknown entity to me.

On the other hand, he can't be any worse than some of the other recent hosts we've had, can he? And he WILL be a surprise to me, no matter what he does.

The only thing that will assure my watching the Oscars next year is if EXPENDABLES 2 gets nominated for something.

Any guy who's banging the Mother of Dragons deserves a shot at hosting the Oscars.

Interesting choice. I think Family Guy went into the crapper years ago (except for "Back To The Pilot" which was inspired), but McFarlane's a charismatic guy. Can't be any worse than the last few years, right?

I'm fine with this.

I've never been able to sit all the way through an entire episode of Family Guy. Ted looked terrible to me. But I think MacFarlane is pretty funny when I see him do stand up and in interviews.

As for the Oscars themselves, I would rather just announce the winners and let them come up and give speeches. It's the only semi-interesting part about the whole thing.

At least it's not Joss Whedon.

Somewhere, Billy Crystal is punching a wall in a cheap hotel room. The Oscars are the only work he can find & if he can't host them, another year of Walmart brand mac & cheese for him.

And the Oscars reduce themselves to the level of the Grammys. Maybe Expendables 2 WILL be nominated for Best Picture. (But if you think that's bad, remember the time I sang 'La Cucaracha' for Paul McCartney?)

At least he'll follow through and not pull an Eddie Murphy.
