Manimal Movie In The Works. Really!

Wasn't really a fan of the original series but I could see an updated version working.

Manimal Movie In The Works. Really

While Sony ready a Smurfs sequel and an ALF movie, they’re also working up the big screen debut of Manimal. That’s one hell of a strategy, fellas. I look forward to Rubik’s Cube: The Movie.

If you don’t recall Manimal, then educate yourself – for want of a more accurate term – with this video of the show’s comically extended opening sequence.

Yes, it’s about a man who can turn into different animals.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show’s creator, Glen A. Larson, is attached as a producer to this feature. I mean, he’s gotta make sure nobody messes it up, right?

The star of Manimal was Simon McCorkindale. Sadly he passed away in 2010 so we won’t be able to see him pass on his powers to his son in the opening sequence of the movie. Maybe some old photos of him can pop up in the background or something. That’d be good for… er…for… um… for the fans… of this… show… that lasted eight episodes before being axed.

Or maybe co-star Melody Anderson, who is still with us, could be Manimum instead. Or Mumimal. Or… look, I’m not Glen A. Larson. This stuff doesn’t come easy to me.

Hey...Manimal and Automa were both favorites of mine in first grade. They both disappeared before the end of the year as well.

I remember both of those shows. Good times. Let's bring back Cliffhangers and Quark, too!

I wouldn't mind a Voyagers movie.

Never even heard of the show. Pretty sure it'll turn into a comedy of some sort knowing that it's Sony.

Oh god, you're right. Will Ferrell will be a reluctant Manimal that changes into the wrong animals at the wrong times. Barf.

I think after Bewitched, Land of The Lost, and Starsky and Hutch Will Ferrell's agent has advised him to stay away from any tv show turn movie reboot.

I'm also down for a Misfits of Science movie, but only if Courtney Cox appears to "pass the torch."

Manimal and that talking Orangataun show were both staples of my Friday night line-ups as a kid, and both ended before the school year.

I wonder how sure of a bet it would be to have him turn into a dog that goes around humping the legs of women if that happened ?
