I've mentioned this a bit but I thought it'd be a good topic as well. Growing up (born in 1986) I got a nice transition of the 1980s stuff into the 1990s. I also ended up watching anything and everything of HK action. Hell..I believed Bruce Lee had made a shit ton of movies....turns out it was the exploitation stuff I was watching...still fun though.

For some weird reason though...I really really really liked Danny DeVito. Maybe it was Batman Returns. Maybe it was...I dunno what. But he was literally one of my favorite actors as a kid. I just enjoyed him. He was fun to watch. Maybe it was his voice..again..no fucking clue. I still love him today and he's in my list of favorite actors...which is huge but as a kid? Who knows what makes you like an actor.

For me in the 80s, I think I was mainly into the comedic actors like Eddie Murphy, Rodney Dangerfield, and Dan Ackroyd. I don't remember following more serious actors.

My favorites before I hit 10 years of age:

Henry Fonda - Yours Mine & Ours was one of my favorite films and I always wished I was part of that family

Gregory Peck - To Kill a Mockingbird made me wish he was my dad...and the role was not far off from what Peck was like in real life.

Jerry Lewis - my favorite comedian as a kid.

When I was little, the first movie stars I knew were Sabu (THE THIEF OF BAGDAD) and Victor Mature (ONE MILLION B.C.). I even got to see Mature in two movies on the big screen: DEMETRIUS AND THE GLADIATORS when I was five, and HANNIBAL (1960), when I was seven.

At some point, Boris Karloff became a favorite after I saw FRANKENSTEIN and its sequels on TV. I even saw Karloff on the big screen when I was seven: FRANKENSTEIN 1970 played on a double bill with SWORD AND THE DRAGON.

The year I turned ten, I began making lists of favorite stars. Annette Funicello from BEACH PARTY was my big movie star crush from that time. I dug Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson and James Coburn from THE GREAT ESCAPE. I liked Robert Mitchum from movies seen on TV and then in THE LONGEST DAY seen on the big screen. Charlton Heston from BEN-HUR and EL CID, both seen on the big screen. And Sean Connery from the James Bond movies.

ok. So you were like 10 when TGE happened. Sooooo you're like early to mid 60s? Cuz...honestly..the way you talk about shit..I'd swear you were there when the silents were being made.

You may get an A in film studies, Solid Snake, but you just failed math!

Raymond Burr - I used to watch Godzilla 1985 on the daily, and Burr was the leading man.

Angela Landsbury - Murder She Wrote was a weekly ritual in my house.

Andy Griffith - We watched a lot of Matlock.

Michael Landon - Highway to Heaven was one of my favorites. I fully teared up when he croaked.
