Tesla, Ruler of the World -- D: Mike Newell S: Bale, Cage --
Per Bleeding Cool:
Bale would play Tesla (1856-1943) was a contemporary and major competitor of Thomas Edison. His best known contribution to the scientific world was as the proponent of AC (alternating current) electricity versus DC (direct current) electricity as championed by Edison (Cage).
The story will feature some modern day elements relating to a "technological crisis."

Could be interesting

Funny. Borden is Tesla now. Also...Bowie was an awesome Tesla. I'd gladly watch a whole film w/ Bowie as Tesla. Bale will be awesome for sure...but..Bowie had it down good I think.

Does anybody else think the inspiration for this might have been the Drunk History episode about Tesla and Edison?

Tesla was possibly the most fascinating man of the 20th century, and maybe the 19th too. Bale is a great match physically, and we know he can lose weight if needed for the role (Tesla was 6' 6" and about 160 pounds -- I wonder if they'll try to represent Tesla at his true height?). Cage initally didn't strike me right as Edison, although checking out some pictures of T.A.E. as a younger man, he seems like a good choice, assuming he can rise to the occasion and give a real, focused performance.
I hope they don't embroider the story with too much current day stuff, the real story is incredible enough.
