Funny, but... the color blue is a cliche?

"Through the legs" is a little unfair. The For Your Eyes Only poster was so popular, iconic, and controversial in its day that every single one of those other posters is deliberatly riffing on it and is conscious that it is doing so. The others are just cliches from unoriginal/lazy marketing departments.

There are only so many things you can do with a movie poster. You could probably call it "25 movie poster cliches" and be able to list 99% of every poster that's been produced.

It was kinda funny though.

Boy, was it iconic! I remember that the "For Your Eyes Only" poster was talked about a lot back then. There were even magazine interviews with people just talking about the poster! Heck, I found out from one that the model in it had the bikini on backwards for the photo shot (no bikinis were narrow in the back in those days).

I think the worst, next to disembodied heads, is the modern action poster in teal & orange:

I have to laugh at the "back to back" having a load of stuff from the past 20 years and then "Adam's Rib" which was made in the late 40s. Like "For Your Eyes Only" it was fresh at the time.

Yeah, a lot of the examples being non-recent kind of eliminates the 'clice' aspect.

I am shocked that from 20,000 movies, the blogger was able to find up to two dozen examples to support each of his theories.
