Funniest movies (past 20 years)?
lately, i've been needing to watch silly, comedic movies and was thinking what you all thought were the funniest, genuine, silly, etc... to come down the pike in the last 20 or so years.

Bad Santa
Big Fan
Big Lebowski
South Park Movie
Best In Show
Clerks
Hot Fuzz
And if nervous laughter counts, I was laughing hystericaly during Dogtooth, but that was probably more from sheer horror.

I seriously laughed all the way through '2012'. Hilarious stuff.
I watch many more dramas than comedies but the last one I seen that was pretty funny was 'Bad Teacher'. I know it received rather poor grades...but I thought it was actually pretty funny.
See what I did there with the "poor grades" remark...Yep.

I agree with everything on this list except Big Fan. I like the film a lot but would call it a drama and not really a comedy (yeah, there are some funny bits, but it's still mainly a drama).

Shaun of The Dead

I haven't enjoyed many comedies in the last ten years. I go to so few these days because the popular ones I've seen don't make me laugh.
The one I can think of that genuinely made me laugh a lot was last year's BRIDESMAIDS. That's about it.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned The Hangover yet. I know it suffers from "overrated syndrome" but it's still one of the funniest movies I've seen in recent years.
I'll agree with:
Shaun of the Dead
Office Space
The Big Lebowski
Superbad
I'll also add:
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs - I stayed away from this for so long because I thought it would be a poor kiddy flick. I was wrong. It's hilarious!
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - Robert Downey Jr. doing his thing to perfection!
Tropic Thunder - Robert Downey Jr. again being truly hilarious. He should have won the Oscar. The famous cameo was just an added bonus!
Surprisingly, I absolutely HATED Bridesmaids. It's been a while since I disliked a movie so much. I had such high hopes for it too.

Some of my favorites -
The Hangover
South Park
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Super Troopers
American Pie
Office Space
And one that's kind of out there, Sex Drive.

If 20 years is the limit, that will take me back to 1992:
-My Cousin Vinny
-Dumb and Dumber
-There's Something About Mary
-Ace Ventura
-Meet the Parents

'Kingpin' - first that came to mind
'Being John Malkovich'
'Walk Hard: the Dewey Cox Story' - has to be the unrated version.
'Step Brothers'
'Super Troopers'
'Anchorman'
'The Cable Guy'
'Bowfinger'
'Evolution'
There's a few.

So these movies really make me laugh. Even when alone. Lots of giggling.
Tropic Thunder
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Kingpin
Anchorman
Zombieland
Idiocracy
Most recently, Cabin in the Woods had me giggling the whole way through. The witty lines were just as strong as Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

Spoiler:
I'd forgotten about My Cousin Vinny even though I was racking my brains for early 90's comedy. I still love that movie.

Kingpin (may be the most I've ever laughed in a theater)
The Big Lebowski (though the Coen movies tend to be overall more clever than LOL funny to me)
O Brother Where Art Thou (" ")
My Cousin Vinny (watched it a little while ago and it still holds up- good laughs and a solid film around them)
40 Year Old Virgin (similar to MCV, a solid and very funny movie)
Gentlemen Broncos (never heard of it until I watched it with friends recently- very funny and well worth tracking down. A hidden gem)
