Having seen Prince twice on his last tour, the man has not forgotten how to rock.

I can only go by the dreck I've heard on the radio and MTV since purple rain. I vowed off ever buying prince after the immense letdown of "Around the World in a Day"

Are you kidding? Then you missed some of Prince's best albums including PARADE, SIGN O' THE TIMES, THE GOLD EXPERIENCE, and several great cuts off of EMANCIPATION, COME, MUSICOLOGY, 3121, as well as side projects: THE FAMILY, THE GLAMOROUS LIFE, JILL JONES, etc...

Around The World In A Day is a great album.

What everyone else said. You've missed out on some of the best music Prince has to offer.

Well, in my defense, I was only 11 when Around the World in a day came out. I was wanting more "Let's Go Crazy" but instead got "Raspberry Beret". I think I listened to it once or twice then threw it out. If that wasn't bad enough, the first single off the next album was Parade's Kiss. That's about as far removed from Let's go Crazy as you can get, and was enough proof to me (right or wrong) that prince was never going back to the sound that I liked.

Yes, Raspberry Beret and Kiss, horrible songs, both.

Those were judgments I made 20 years ago, which I stand by today. Raspberry Beret is a fluff nothing song, and the vocals on kiss are like nails on a chalkboard to me.

How do you have a discussion about Prince in 2012 with someone who's never heard Sign 'O' the Times?

I stopped listening to the Beatles after the letdown of "Act Naturally".

I've been listening to this album since I was 14 and am at the point where I know it inside and out. So cool to see the live take and get an impression of how the final version was put together. That must have been a very special night for both the band and the audience. Thanks for sharing OP!

Hmmmm... Intriguing.

I'd also like to present for consideration: "The Black Album" and "The Beautiful Dance Experience"- a collection of the '94 "The Beautiful Experience TV Broadcast" (where the hell was it broadcast?!) combined with a few tracks from NPG's "Gold *****" cd. Good stuff though I don't believe it was a legitimate release.
