Unknowns when the film came out, or complete unknowns even now?

Well, it just so happens that right now I'm seeing the cover art for City of God under "HD Reviews," and I think that's a great example.

That one came to mind, but I think Milla Jovovich was somewhat known as a model at that point, and she had been in a few films.

400 Blows...possibly? I'm not sure about the rest of the cast.

I would take this as a joke, but four of the five are valid answers.

Re: Best movie with complete unknowns?

Laws of Gravity - Edie Falco is a big name now, Peter Greene & Paul Schulze are somewhat famous, and Adam Trese is a semi-familiar face. Twenty years ago, they were total unknowns.

The lead is Jean-Pierre Leaud, who was unknown at the time, but has been a star ever since.

'Balthazar' star Anne Wiazemsky also had a pretty good career after her famous debut. She made a number of films with Godard and Pasolini (co-starring with Leaud in several), as well as Garrel, Techine.
