Air – Le Voyage dans la Lune (Free Streaming: The Guardian)
New album. What I have heard so far is great.

When Georges Méliès's 1902 silent film A Trip to the Moon was recently restored, Air were the obvious choice to provide a new soundtrack. Now they have expanded on the project to make a full-length album inspired by the movie. Tim Jonze reviewed it for the Guardian today, praising its "warm, homemade feel".

Cool. Love 2 was a step in the right direction but still filled with mis-fires imho.

from recordstore.co.uk:
"Le Voyage Dans La Lune (A trip to the moon) is the new album from French Electronica pioneers Air due for release on February 6th 2012. The album came about when the band were asked to score the recently restored 1912 movie by the same name by legendary French director George Méliès. Heralded as not only the first ever Sci-Fi movie but also the first ever cinema Blockbuster, the colour version of the film was long thought destroyed but was found again in the 1990s and underwent a painstaking 10 year process to restore the movie to its original 17 minute glory. The film was premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2011 and has since toured the World film festival circuit with interest in Méliès' work peaking in December which was not only the 150th anniversary of Méliès' birth but also saw the release of the new Scorsese film Hugo in which Ben Kingsley plays the part of the pioneering French Director.
After completing the score, Air were themselves inspired to turn their 17 minute soundtrack into a complete album which has become some of their strongest work to date. As they gave their skills and time for free, the Méliès Estate has in turn granted permission for a limited deluxe edition run of the album which includes the restored film as bonus content. This is a must have for fans of Air but also for fans of the legendary director Méliès as this deluxe edition of the album is the only place it is possible to see the film outside of the film festival circuit."
the physical album comes out tomorrow and as noted before "Available as a STRICTLY LIMITED EDITION CD+DVD package, which will include the new album + a DVD of the newly restored, colorized film featuring AIR's original score" - so I assume it's the same pastel coloured tinged look that was seen in the movie Hugo

It is also worth noting, that Air's score is used on the restored color version of the film. However, there is no indication of what parts of the album are used in the film.
I figured it was a good idea to post it if others go looking for the film and don't know which one Air is on.

yes, it's going to be interesting how all the music that was written is mixed for the film. I'm curious if the movie is standard stereo 2.0 sound or 5.1

Additionally, that will be in 5.1 and DTS-HD Master Audio on the Blu-ray.

As it stands, I believe Amazon will only have the CD/DVD combo.
For the Blu, go here:

^ the link you provided gives no mention to the inclusion of Air's soundtrack - now I'm really confused.

Tried watching the video in iTunes but it had serious interlacing issues. I'll try later with a video player that doesn't suck to see if it handles it better.

Love this band, but it's my least favorite album they've ever made. That doesn't mean it sucks. It doesn't at all. Just not feeling it.

the DVD on the CD/DVD release is standard 2-channel stereo, but if it's' true that the blu-ray the audio is remixed to 5.1 that's a bonus in my book.

Discouraged by some of the reviews but this package is just too cool not to pick up, IMO.
Of course I own all their albums so that wasn't really up for debate.

ETA: Interesting....the references to the 5.1 mix are not in the FAQs anymore. Perhaps it has changed. However, I know I did read it would be in 5.1.
