What are some bands that would never ever come to mind as one of your "favorites" when asked, and perhaps not considered the most talented or artistically gifted, but when push comes to shove, you really just love them?

for me? without a doubt, Monster Magnet.

I take Monster Magnet for granted too. And after hearing those songs I know why.

I'm not sure. When someone asks my favorites, they come to mind. If they don't, they aren't favorites.

Foo Fighters

I've never bought an album, never seen a show, but you know, I love every song I hear on the radio. They don't ever seem to have a bad tune. I never seem to change the channel when they come on either. I don't know why I've never took the plunge on an actual album.

For the longest time, the Beatles were in that category for me. Of course, I knew intellectually that they were great, andi had listened to them a ton when was in high school, but I had drifted away from them over the years. Then, at some point when they were in the news recently (maybe when Beatles Rock Band came out, or when they made their deal with iTunes), I made a point of going back and listening to their catalog and it reminded me -- "No, those guys really were that good."

The recent Jimmy Fallon skit led me to do something similar with the Doors -- same story.
