That head was the hit at my wife's white elephant party. Of course I only let her take it empty.

From my understanding though, the animated series released in this set has not been remastered and some say it actually looks better. I don't really want to do the research, but this is something I remember seeing posted.

I bought this a while back because I'm a huge POA fan, even though I had the individual series TV series, the DVD box set and POA 2001.

I did some review browsing and can confirm that the animated series is not remastered in this ultimate set, although everyone said it looked much better in the separate release in the few mentions I saw.

It also appears that there are some trivial differences in some of the other discs, most notably a few TV promos are on this ultimate set's version of the TV series disc #4, but not on my regular release of the TV series.

I think I'll go ahead and buy it. I don't need the animated series to be remastered, I just want to watch it for the story; and the head will be a fun; but mainly because my OCD wants every version of my favorite franchises if there are differences.

FYI, It can be had for $2.95 and free shipping if you don't mind buying from Deep Discount.
Also, you will have to go back in time about 5 years. Thats the hard part.

The tv promos are not on disc four of the tv series. There are no television promos for the tv series anywhere, on either set. The individual release of the animated series has promos for the animated series that are not on the ultimate collection, but there is not a play all feature on the individual release. I like the unremastered play all version in ultimate better, because the eps are dark & grainy, where the new remasters are very bright & "cheery" looking...

I received mine today...it looks even better than I thought it would in person! (I got a number somewhere in the 8,700's.) I noticed they are still at the $53.99 price...and in stock.

It really does. I bought this back in 2008 (for about $5 more) and still haven't watched any of the discs... but I just love having that damn dirty ape head on my shelf.
