Supposedly the remake was pretty good. I'll be buying both.

Really surprised the Joe Bob Briggs commentary was carried over from the Elite release.

I hope it makes it to the BD version too

I heard the commentaries weren't being ported. Weird.

AWESOME news about the commentary.

This will be a first-day pick-up for me.

I used to own the Elite release years ago, but sold it. I will say that both commentaries are highly recommended. In my opinion, go with the Meir Zarchi commentary first to get all the dirt on the films production and aftermath. Then the Briggs commentary for his take on the film including pointing out the flaws that Zarchi naturally overlooks.

Well nuts. Great for everyone else, but I'll take credit for the Briggs commentary being ported over as I picked up an OP Elite disc first thing when I heard the rumor that they weren't. I've got too many fond memories of Monstervision not to have that commentary in my collection!

Re: I Spit on Your Grave (2010) & (1978) 02/8/2011

here's my brief review (i was one of the lucky ones to see it in theaters)

Re: I Spit On Your Grave (2010)
saw it tonight. I was actually surprised at the fact that the basic story/setup was pretty much the same from the original. The rape scene is in fact very disturbing and long (and not unintentially funny. If you watch the original, some of the guys faces while they're in rape mode, make me laugh for some reason, eh, blame the joe bob briggs commentary). the kills are kind of in the torture porn area, and i can def see why the mpaa had trouble with some of it. "fans" of the original/gore hounds will enjoy it, most others wont.

Surprsingly there was actually people at my screening, and there weren't any walkouts, and the kills got applause. If anyone has questions, i'll gladly answer

Also here are the main differences that i noticed (outside of the kills which are def more amped up and nastier/gorier then the original)
Spoiler:
The gang assaults jennifer with a gun in a lengthy scene before any of the actual rape
Matthew is the first one to fully rape Jennifer (like in the original he's talked into it).
Here's where the big changes come in, in order to escape, she dives into a river and is presumed dead until she shows up later in the movie to start her revenge.
There is no scene where Jennifer goes into a church to ask god for forgiveness
