I'll wait until he's marked down to just $3 million dollars and then I'll grab and go.

I just got mine yesterday. Man, is that one cool set.

If you look at it as 6 sets (one for each season, and one for the reunion movies and extras) then the price isn't all that out of line.

I watched the 2nd episode first, because that was the first episode I remember watching back in 1974 and haven't seen that one since it ran on Sci Fi back in the mid 90's.

I highly recommend this set. The extras are fantastic and the picture quality is as good as you could hope for given the show's age. And it's The Six Million Dollar Man! It's worth it!

I'm hoping in a year or two this set will be available on Amazon for less than $100. The Get Smart set (which is only 25 DVDs compared to 40 DVDs in the Six Million Dollar Man set) is currently selling new for $72, compared to over $200 when it was first offered by Time-Life. Man from UNCLE is $110 on Amazon, 41 discs, so probably a better predictor of where the Six Million Dollar Man set will eventually end up.

Totally jealous but opted instead for the complete Larry Sanders show for my holiday big ticket DVD purchase. Guess I'll use my (hopeful) tax refund for this.

Plus the Man from UNCLE set has been cheaper in lightning deals, I think around $80. I really want to get the Six Million Dollar Man set but it's still too pricey. I'm jealous of all of you who have it.

Yeah, when you average it all out, and given the affectionate way it is all presented, I think the price was very reasonable. It's also worth a little extra to me to get the entire series in one fell swoop instead of waiting patiently for every next volume to finally get announced and then released.
The initial outlay is daunting, but I wish I'd had the option of doing it this way for a number of shows that now seem to be completely stalled out.

As great as this set is, I've had a hard time getting an outer case that isn't damaged. The first one arrived with no extra packing, and two of the corner were bashed in. The CSR over the phone couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating and they got a new outer box out to me quick- which came in very carefully wrapped in bubble wrap- yet the sound chip inside was torn off and broken and rattling around the case. I can probably disembowel the old case and glue that one into the new one, but for a $200 set, this is kind of annoying.

As for the show itself, I'm surprised how well some of these eps are holding up. I'm hitting a few clunkers here and there, but some of the storylines have a sophistication I wasn't expecting. I suppose in the latter seasons this will change, since the show had a lot of appeal to kids my age at the time (under 10). But especially for an era that was awash in Aaron Spelling lowest common denominator crap, some of these early eps actually seem distinguished.
